The next-generation Jaguar XF has been spotted just a few days before its unveiling at the 2015 New York Motor Show. The new-generation XF is longer and wider than the outgoing version, which means more space (especially knee room) for rear passengers.

The XF was spotted at Canary Islands off the Moroccan coast in the mid-Altantic by Mr Jan Lemkes and shared with Autoweek.

Though the test mule was camouflaged but it does indicate the increase in dimensions. The new XF will be based on the lightweight aluminium iQ platform, on which the new XE and even the F-PACE are based. The new XF will be a lot lighter than the current sold XF and will be a lot more fuel efficient too, at the moment XF is the only Jaguar that isn’t built on an aluminium platform.

The interior styling and the dashboard will be an evolution of the existing XE. The current XF’s interior styling looks a bit retro, while the new one shall have contemporary styling.

The new XF will be powered by Jaguar Land Rover’s recently developed Ingenium range of engines. At the moment only the diesel engine is being manufactured however by the end of this year, the petrol will also be on sale. The other 3.0-litre V6 and 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engines will also be powering the Jaguar XF’s sportier versions. The XF will also an all-wheel drive variant and it will also come with a hybrid powertrain in the future. The new aluminium chassis has been designed with hybrid as a part of the design as the new Range Rover chassis has been made.
