Hyundai is all set to launch the i20 Active on the the 17th of March, however the images of this crossover are already out. The i20 Active is base don the Elite i20 platform, however it gets 190mm of ground clearance while the regular i20 is a lot lower. The i20 Active also gets projector lamps and LEDs, which aren’t available on the Elite i20.

The i20 Active gets roof rails, body cladding, of course the higher ground clearance, large fog lamps, a different front grille and bumpers when compared to the Elite i20, body decal. The door pillars are also black, like the Elite i20.

The interiors are more on the sportier side when compared to the Elite i20, which do feel more on the subtle side. There are orange inserts, which indicates that Hyundai is targeting the younger audience. The in-dash music system comes with a 1 GB of internal space, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and aux input. The i20 Active will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission and 1.4-litre diesel with a six-speed manual transmission just like the Elite i20. There will be an automatic in the offering, but that won’t be at the moment.

The pricing of the i20 Active will be about Rs 35,000 more than the Elite i20. Hyundai i20 Active will be competing with the Fiat Avventura, Volkswagen CrossPolo and the Toyota Etios Cross. However, it is only the Fiat and Hyundai that have increased the ground clearance of their products, with Fiat having the maximum effort.
