2019 Ford Ecosport Exterior

The 2019 Ford Ecosport will not see any changes done to the exterior of the car. The 2017-18 upgrade for the EcoSport was more than a facelift though if not a full-on generation change. As a result, the dimensions will still remain the same and there aren’t any drastic changes expected.

That said, the Ford EcoSport Thunder Edition comes packed with a slew of cosmetic changes including a sportier looking dual tone paint scheme with black roof and black decals. Its grille, headlamp cluster, fog lamp bezels also get black treatment. Other exterior highlights include black ORVMs, unique 17-inch alloy wheels painted and spare wheel cover – both in black, faux air inlets and ‘Thunder’ branding right below the EcoSport badge on the tailgate.

2019 Ford EcoSport Interior

The 2019 Ford EcoSport will not see any changes in the interior. Getting behind the wheel and the EcoSport’s cabin feels comfortable enough without that sense of absolute airiness. This is down to the narrow cabin and the all-black treatment which adds to that closed in feeling. That said, the driving position is spot on and the front seats are wider than the old car. What’s more, the OEM leather seats are of good quality and make the cabin more premium than the competition. There’s a great deal of headroom and lateral support. At the rear, you will find a better sense of legroom thanks to the scooped out front seats. The headroom, meanwhile, is copious as always and the softer cushioning is great, too. What’s not so great though is the lack of shoulder room when all the seats are occupied.

On the inside, the Thunder Edition gets dual-tone treatment on seats, dashboard, hand rest and doors as well as contrast stitching on seats and steering wheel.

The rest of the interiors are great too. There are no complaints of quality, fit and finish, and other things on this car. The infotainment system is superb. There are plenty of cup holders and storage spaces around the car. The storage unit under the front passenger seat is no longer there though.

The 352-litre boot is unchanged and like before, it’s got a wide opening and a fairly low loading lip. More crucially, the boot is also larger than the competition and the floor is adjustable with three height settings so that you can align the boot floor when the seats are folded flat.

2019 Ford EcoSport Specifications

Ford has revised the engine range for the EcoSport and for this new model, introduced an entirely new 3-cylinder petrol engine. The new motor can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. The diesel, meanwhile, is the tried and tested 1.5-litre TDCI 4-cylinder motor. And if performance is your goal the 124bhp, 1-litre six-speed manual EcoSport S is for you. This is the most performance-oriented compact SUV to go for.

Ford EcoSport Competition

The Ford EcoSport will compete directly with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Tata Nexon and the Honda WRV. It’s still a very compelling package. And will be a choice for the people who want practicality, comfort and performance roped in one package.
