Mahindra has confirmed that it will be introducing a compact SUV based on Ssangyong’s X100 platform. This is the same platform on which the new Tivoli is made. This means, that the Indian utility maker is looking at localising the Tivoli for the Indian car market. This will mean that the Tivoli will get a lot more affordable. With Mahindra working on an SUV, the pricing will be more affordable than the Creta. Expect the base model pricing to be about INR 10 lakhs (on-road). The higher end variants will cost INR 15 lakhs.

Mahindra will be launching the 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine on the new SUV. This SUV will be producing about 110-125bhp of power. Competing with the Hyundai Creta, Mahindra should be launching it with a six-speed manual transmission and six-speed AISIN automatic transmission will also be offered.

Mahindra has been working on modern SUVs and this will the first one that will be able to compete with the international car brands.
