THE INSIDE LINE F1 PODCAST IS HOSTED BY MITHILA MEHTA AND KUNAL SHAH. THIS FORMULA ONE PODCAST OFFERS A UNIQUE HUMOUROUS VIEW ON THE SPORT.
After suggesting that Bernie Ecclestone should turn TV commentator, in this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we’re talk about Formula 1’s ‘historic bonus’ towards Ferrari and how the Italian manufacturer are far from getting one ever from Formula E.
Ferrari do seem confused. On one hand, they claim that Formula 1’s dwindling viewership could make them reconsider their commitment to the sport and on the other hand, they’re considering buying shares of the sport. Clearly, tyre strategy isn’t the only thing Ferrari seem confused about!
On the point of Formula E, why is data from Felipe Massa’s one-off test with Jaguar’s Formula E team not being made public? Was he slow in a Formula E car too?
What Song Will Sebastian Vettel Sing?
Ross Brawn has suggested to do away with ‘blue flags’. We’re not sure if this is a good idea from a safety and a racing point of view. Either way, what song will Sebastian Vettel sing then? And is this idea now inspired by the fact that Esteban Gutierrez is no longer on the grid?
What Will Mclaren Score First? A Win Or A Title Sponsor?
Zak Brown’s target is clear – a title sponsor by 2018. We wonder what’ll come first, a win or a title sponsor? That’s like saying ‘Alonso + Vandoorne vs. Brown’! The team from Woking has dropped serious hints indicating a change of colour to orange, which the yellow cars of Renault believe could be a look alike. If that’s the case, will we have four slow yellow cars in the 2017 Formula 1 Season?
Also, the ‘MP4’ prefix has been dropped from their car name. Is this an outcome from a visit to the local numerologist in Woking?
Finnish Grand Prix At Kymi Ring?
The Finnish Formula 1 Grand Prix could be held at a circuit called the ‘Kymi Ring’. Doesn’t Kymi seem like a drunk spelling of Kimi? And we’re not sure if Mika Hakkinen will be too pleased either! And would Pirelli need to introduce the ‘snow weather’ tyre? And will ‘vodka’ be served on the podium?
A Max Verstappen Grand Stand
Kymi Ring might not exactly be after Kimi Raikkonen, but the young prodigal Max Verstappen now has a Grand Stand named after him at the iconic Spa Francorchamps circuit. The Orange Army, the fanatic Verstappen fans, who voted Max Verstappen as the ‘Driver of the Day’ at races he crashed in will have a stand to sit in and cheer from. Given the sizeable number of fans Verstappen has, we hope that the Max Verstappen Grand Stand is big enough!
Isn’t Sebastian Vettel the only other driver with a Grand Stand to his name? At Nurburgring! And how come Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso don’t have theirs already?
Fernando Along Brings Up The Rear, Again
Fernando Alonso has made it to the top 200 wealthiest people of Spain. Unsurprisingly enough, he’s brought up the rear of that list too. At 197, he narrowly edged out compatriot and the losing finalist of the 2017 Australian Open, Rafael Nadal.
Nico Rosberg – The Imperfect Champion, The Perfect Fan
The reigning World Champion, Nico Rosberg, might not be remembered as Formula 1’s most perfect champion. Like all of us, he too hoped that Fernando Alonso would be his replacement at Mercedes over all other options. Funnily enough, going by the statements made by the Hamiltons, are they claiming credit for Rosberg’s retirement?
And finally, Lewis Hamilton has publicly claimed that he’s never got along with his team-mates. Does he get along with anyone at all?
