The Renault Triber was a different kind of product that was introduced by the company. It was launched in the segment of the hatchbacks but was indeed an MPV. The product has quickly become a success and helped Renault increase its sales in the country. It has established itself as a very important product for the company. Let’s take a look at its good and bad points to find out more about the product.

Renault Triber Pros

Pricing

It is a sub-four metre SUV which gives it the benefit of being in a lower tax bracket. The Triber has been priced very aggressively and costs only Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). It is scarcely believable that an MPV is available at such a price after having  such good practical usage.

Extra luggage space and features

The car can either sit seven passengers or either five and a whole lot of luggage. It also gets lots of storage space all around the car along with a cooled glovebox. The Renault Triber is also feature-packed as it gets an eight-inch infotainment system complete with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The top-spec trim gets four airbags, engine start-stop system, AC for the third row.

Design of the Renault Triber

The design of the car is truly modern and it has many elements on it that enhance its looks and make it a desirable car. The LED headlamps and the thought out proportions help the car achieve this. It also gets skid plates around the car and chrome finishes.

Renault Triber cons

Refinement of the engine and power

Under the hood, the Renault Triber uses a 71bhp/96Nm 1.0-litre petrol motor that is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The obvious problem here is that the car does feel a bit underpowered to begin with. But when it is loaded with all the passengers you do lack the torque in the car. Also, the engine noise levels are a bit much and the engine overall does not reach the refinement levels that are expected.

No diesel engine option in the Renault Triber

Since the car is a budget car and is one that will be used for long journeys a diesel option would have been nice in the car as it would become a more practical package overall.

Conclusion

The only car that competes with the Triber is the Datsun GO+. All this being said, the Triber is one of the major reasons for the companies growth from last year and it has sold around 33,000 units in the previous financial year even after the slowdown of the automobile industry. The Triber has even managed to overtake the Kwid in terms of sales. You can check out our review of the Renault Triber down below:

  • I need a good family car for my family, but I’ve heard something not good about Triber. What’s the truth? I want a very good vehicle , i.e having price for money without any criticism. Kindly clear doubts about more sound of engine and low performance of the vehicle. If, evereything is okay, only then I shall finalise my decision, otherwise opt for another car. Waiting for your prompt and complete reply.
