Farhan Akhtar buys big brother of Jeep Compass

Farhan Akhtar, the Bollywood actor/director is known to be fond of SUVs. This time he lays his hands own a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is known to be the elder brother of the Jeep Compass. The Grand Cherokee was the first Jeep product to be launched in India, alongside the Jeep Wrangler. Many celebrities have been seen buying Jeep products lately and Farhan Akhtar also joins in, to that club.

The Grand Cherokee the flagship SUV in the FCA’s (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) line up globally. The Jeep Grand Cherokee prices begin from Rs.75.15 lakhs, ex-showroom. The Grand Cherokee is sold as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) in India. This was the SUV that launched the Jeep brand in India. Later, the Compass made it popular. The Grand Cherokee is a five seater, premium SUV and comes in three variants Limited Petrol, Limited Diesel and Summit Diesel.

The petrol engine is a 3.6-litre V6, that churns out 285bhp of power and 347Nm of torque. It comes with a 8-speed automatic transmission and 4WD as standard. The 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine is a turbocharged unit has 240bhp of power and 570Nm of peak torque. This engine is also mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission and gets 4WD.

The big SUV also is available with a more powerful version which is the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.

This is a sports car in a SUV disguise. Powered by a 6.4-litre, V8 petrol engine, it belts out a whopping 468bhp of power and a mighty 624Nm of peak torque. The same 8-speed transmission does duty here and a 4WD is also available. This SUV cum sports car reaches 0-100 in under 5 seconds, which is spectacular for a vehicle of this size. It has a top speed of about 250 km/h.
