Hyundai Cars at the 2018 Auto Expo

This is this second largest car seller in India. Hyundai has seen a major growth in its market share and more importantly in its sales. Hyundai has been leading sales in a couple of segments and in others it has high percentage. So this brand has a good command and has high number of product offerings. The plans for the company are many as the Korean automaker is gearing up to get multiple new cars into the Indian car market. The 2018 Auto Expo is an important event for the company. We expect them to get making new cars, in fact the company has already announced it will unveil the Hyundai Ioniq at the Expo. Whats more, the company is also planning to get more new cars to the Indian car market. 

Hyundai Ioniq

This is a hybrid car that will be made available in India. Hyundai is heading towards hybrid cars and this will be its first one for the Indian car market. Whats more, the company is also looking at getting this as its new flagship. A product that will showcase the company’s technology. At the moment, Santa Fe is the flagship and this will be new replacement. Hyundai is looking at globally competing with Toyota, which has been seeing a growth in its hybrid car market. The Ioniq also has segment leading featuring and shall be launched in India, a few months after the Auto Expo. At the Expo, the company shall be unveiling this new hybrid vehicle. Recently introduced GST could hurt some of the auto industry sentiments as hybrids now attract an extra tax of 15%, which is a lot of amount. This discourages car makers to get cars with lower emissions. We aren’t certain of a change in policy. At this price point, it will not hurt Ioniq car buyers much.

Hyundai Carlino

We can expect the production version of this new SUV. Hyundai had showcased it at the 2016 Auto Expo as a pure concept and we expect it to make it into production by 2018-19. Hyundai will want to show its new SUV and reveal what it can do in this new SUV. There shall be a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, and it will want its buyers/loyalist to hang on a bit more instead of switching to competition brands. This will be coming with all the features in its segment that are offered in this segment and  in fact even more features. Hyundai will want to stick to its brand and offer a good amount of features.

Hyundai Santro

We aren’t certain about this, but Hyundai shall be getting an all new car that will replace the current i10 (not the Grand i10) and shall be named as Santro. Hyundai will want to launch this new car by September-October 2018. This will be the company’s new car and the company has been keen to get back the product that built its entry into India. In 2018, the company will complete its 20 years in India. And what will be a better option than to get its most successful model. The Santro is a big brand and Hyundai will get it back. What else it will have is more features, and even AMT will be offered on the new car. The design, features, everything shall be new on the Santro.

Hyundai 1.0-litre Turbo engine

This is the new T-GDI engine, which stands for turbo gasoline direct injection. This will be a turbo petrol, first engine from Hyundai for India. This engine should be producing about 130bhp of power and will be a three-cylinder engine. Maruti, Ford have already got these engines. Tata’s Nexon gets a 1.2-litre turbo and even the Zest and the Bolt. Hyundai shall be another automaker that will be getting this new SUV into India.
