The Maruti Wagon R has a boxy tall boy design. Not much has changed in terms of shape, over the years. The tall n boxy proportions make it very practical in terms of ingress and egress. Certain elements do make it attractive such as the chrome strip on the front grille and the clear lens headlamps.

The styling of the Celerio is mix of various elements. It has a pleasing front end with twin chrome horizontal slats. Large headlamps also add to the look. The Maruti Wagon R has a 1.0-litre petrol engine that churns out 67bhp of power. This is a three cylinder engine. It is responsive and well tuned for city driving. The Wagon R also has a CNG option available. This comes only in the Lxi variant. CNG makes the car extremely fuel efficient.

The Maruti Celerio shares the same petrol engine as the Wagon R. The power figures are identical too. The Celerio being slightly lighter, offers quicker acceleration. There is a CNG version available as well. What the Celerio has extra is also an option of a diesel engine. This engine is an 800cc one with 46bhp of power but the torque is an impressive 125Nm.

The mileage of both cars are similar. The Celerio is slightly more efficient as it is lighter than the Wagon R. The Celerio Diesel returns 14-23 km/l in a mix of city and highway driving.
