The Maruti Wagon R has a 1.0-litre petrol engine that churns out 67bhp of power. This is a three cylinder engine. It is responsive and well tuned for city driving. The Wagon R also has a CNG option available. This comes only in the Lxi variant. CNG makes the car extremely fuel efficient.

The Maruti Celerio shares the same petrol engine as the Wagon R. The power figures are identical too. The Celerio being slightly lighter, offers quicker acceleration. There is a CNG version available as well. What the Celerio has extra is also an option of a diesel engine. This engine is an 800cc one with 46bhp of power but the torque is an impressive 125Nm.
