Honda recently unveiled the City Hybrid. Until now, the City was competing with cars like Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. New Drivetrain

Currently, the Honda City’s new generation gets a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 119bhp & 145Nm of torque. The City Hybrid gets two electric motors. With the hybrid setup, the City Hybrid makes 124bhp & 253Nm of torque, mated to Honda’s eCVT automatic transmission.

Better mileage

The Honda City Petrol has a claimed mileage of 18.4kmpl and the Skoda Slavia 1.5 TSI has a claimed mileage of about 18.72kmpl. With the hybrid technology, the new City Hybrid will have a claimed mileage of 26.5kmpl. So, this car would be a more pocket-friendly petrol car than its competition.

City Hybrid Vs Slavia – ADAS

Honda has confirmed that the City hybrid will have the Honda Sensing which is nothing but the brand’s ADAS technology. Currently, in the Indian market, it would be the first car in its segment to get the ADAS technology. So the safety in this car would be better than other cars in its competition. Features like auto high beam, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation and collision mitigation braking will be made available.

City Hybrid Vs Slavia – Price

We expect that the Honda City would be launched at a price between Rs 18 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs (ex-showroom). This would be a very attractive pricing as Skoda Slavia’s top trim goes up to Rs 17.79 lakhs (ex-showroom) and the top trim of Honda City’s current generation costs Rs 15.34 lakhs (ex-showroom). Considering all the features and technology used in the City Hybrid, it definitely makes sense for you to wait for it.
