Honda Cars India is all set to launch the all-new Jazz hatchback in the country on 8th July 2015. Since, less than a month is left in the launch, the company dealers have started taking bookings for Jazz nationwide at a token price of INR 21,000. For the first time, Honda Jazz would be seen with a diesel powerplant, paddle shifters (petrol variants with CVT automatic gearbox) and touch-screen infotainment system.

Honda Jazz’s first outing in India in 2009 wasn’t a memorable one as the company had to discontinue it in 2013, owing to poor sales and demand. The reason said to be behind the poor sales were its extremely high price and lack of a diesel engine. But now, the Japanese automaker has got rid of both these factors as the all-new Jazz would be launched in the diesel guise, alongside the traditional petrol.

Furthermore, the all-new Honda Jazz would have a localization of over 90 percent, which would help the company to price it quite aggressively. Just so you know, Honda Jazz would be manufactured at company’s Tapukara production facility in Alwar, Rajasthan along with the City and Amaze.

Being based on the City platform, all-new Jazz would use Honda’s 1.

2-litre, four-cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine and 1.5-litre, four-cylinder i-DTEC diesel engine. The petrol motor would churn out a maximum power of 88bhp and peak torque of 110Nm. It would be available with both five-speed manual gearbox as well as CVT automatic transmission. On the other hand, the diesel motor would generate 99bhp of top power and 200Nm of peak torque, while coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. The diesel variants are claimed to have a fuel efficiency of 27.

3km/l. It is because the company has tweaked the diesel mill and has given it around 8 per cent taller gear ratios than the other Honda cars like Amaze, City and Mobilio – all of who use the same engine.
