<\/p>\nFord Motor India has revealed their latest engine offering for their India lineup. The 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine showcased today is a lighter and a more efficient petrol engine. It would be manufactured at Ford\u2019s state of the art manufacturing facility at Sanand in Gujarat with 80% of parts sourced locally. The engine belonging to the Dragon family of petrol engines is capable of churning out 123 PS of peak power and a maximum torque of 150Nm with a claimed improvement of 7% in Fuel efficiency figures over the outgoing engine.<\/p>\n

An enhanced power output of 10% and torque improvement by 7% is derived from a reduction in the overall engine weight & bringing down of friction along with various performance improvement measures like the bore & stroke ratios optimisation for delivering a better performance.<\/p>\n

The integrated exhaust manifold and a belt-in oil primary drive system are amongst the few engine features rendering improved performance efficiency, while keeping a check on the NVH characteristics of the engine. The Ti-VCT system (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing) on the other hand, ensures a faster throttle response and supports better fuel combustion.<\/p>\n The Ti-VCT (Twin independent Variable Camshaft Timing) system on the new engine allows each intake and exhaust cam to function independently of each other as operating conditions change.\u00a0This delivers faster throttle response and better fuel efficiency. Meanwhile, the engine\u2019s bore and stroke ratios have been optimised to produce higher torque at lower engine speeds, leading to a more enjoyable and agile drive in city traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n Ford\u2019s engineers have taken special efforts to rein in the first-order vibrations generally associated with a three cylinder engines. We look forward to a drive experience soon in order to vouch for it.<\/p>\n The 1.5l Ti-VCT engine is going to find its home in the Ecosport facelift due in a month\u2019s time from now.
