As there has been a surge in demand for petrol and automatic cars, companies are now focusing on getting more and more of these. Majority of the upcoming cars in the near future will be petrol automatics, or even AMTs. But there are many of them that shall be made available very soon. Maruti Ignis

Maruti Suzuki Ignis three-fourth

This is one of the first launches of the year. Priced between INR 5 lakhs to INR 8 lakhs, Maruti will be offering the Ignis with five-speed AMT for petrol and diesel. This is good news for those who are looking at buying a diesel automatic. The launch will happen on the 13th of January 2017. So, if you are one of those looking to get themselves a super compact cross, this will be the ideal one. This will have a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. Book through us.

Tata Hexa

Another UV that we have driven a while ago. This UV will be made available with a six-speed automatic transmission and will come in three variants. The XM, XT 4×2 and XT 4×4. All these variants will be made available from the launch. In terms of performance, we loved how the Hexa performs, especially the automatic. If you ask us, we prefer the automatic over the manual. A 154bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine. Hexa comes with a 10-speaker Harman system on the top end model. The launch of the Hexa is on 18th of January. Book through us.

Tata Kite 5 (Tata Viago or Altigo)

The Kite 5 is another new compact sedan that will be made available in the market. This new compact sedan shall offer AMT on the petrol variant. As there has been a shift to petrol engines, we expect the Kite 5 to get that too.

It does share the same platform like the Tiago, but it gets additional features like touchscreen system and rear armrest too. It will offer more than the Tiago.

The Kite 5 will be launched in May-June 2017.

Renault Lodgy AMT

Renault Lodgy has been there for a while, however it doesn’t have a  two pedal version. The Lodgy has been known for its practicality, however it hasn’t been a great success for the brand. The Duster recently got an AMT. As both the Lodgy and Duster share the same powertrain, the AMT version shall trickle into the Lodgy portfolio as well. The Lodgy should be made available by mid 2017.

Maruti Vitara Brezza AMT

One of the most successful SUVs for Maruti, will be made available with an AMT. This will be a diesel engine and it will be a five-speed AMT. The Brezza will continue to have a 1.3-litre diesel engine. The new Brezza will be making its way with an AMT and then a petrol engine will also be introduced in the near future. The new Brezza AMT will be introduced by May 2017.

Tata Tiago AMT

After tasting success with the Tiago, Tata Motors is now prepared to get the AMT version. The five-speed AMT will be offered on the Tiago petrol. Tata Tiago AMT will come on the higher variants like XT and XZ, or just the top variant. It will not get any additional features over the already available Tiago. We expect this to be launched by March 2017.

Redi-Go AMT

There are rumours that Datsun is working on redi-GO AMT. We aren’t certain if this is true, but is if it is, the Redi GO will be the first 800cc engine to get an AMT. There is the Tata Nano, which has a sub-700cc engine with an AMT.

So far, Maruti and Renault both haven’t introduced an AMT on the 800cc version of this hatchbacks.

Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV that will be manufactured in India. We expect the production of this new SUV to commence by mid 2017. What’s more? The Compass will be sold in India and should rival against the Hyundai Tucson. The Compass will come with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 170bhp. This will be offered with a six-speed manual and automatic options. There will also be an AWD option too.

Renault HBC

The Renault HBC will be making its way into India. This is a compact SUV that will be competing with the Vitara Brezza and the Ford Ecosport. Renault has been working on this new SUV for while and this will be based on the CMF-A platform. An all new SUV, which will be highly localised. The Renault HBC will have a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. There will be an AMT on offer as well.

Ssangyong Tivoli

Another Hyundai Tucson competition SUV is coming. This will be the Ssangyong Tivoli, which will be offered with a 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engine options. This new SUV will have a six-speed manual and automatic option. There have been rumours that Ssangyong is likely to use a 2.0-litre diesel engine for India. So far, it is only a rumour and we do not have confirmed reports on the same.
