While other automakers have shifted their focus to FWD SUVs, Jeep stands apart. It brings authentic 4×4 capability to the mid-size SUV segment. However, things have been pretty quiet for Jeep in the Indian market. And to change this, Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, has confirmed the development of an all-new SUV. To make this happen, they will be working with Tata Motors. Here’s what you can expect.

Design
Industry reports suggest that Tata’s latest platform could underpin the upcoming Jeep SUV. This is yet to be officially confirmed. But we can expect the SUV to be based on the Tata ARGOS platform. While the design remains under wraps, the SUV is expected to showcase the brand’s signature styling, with the seven-slot grille, square-shaped wheel arches, and an upright stance. Complementing the modern looks could be sleek LED headlamps and connected LED tail lamps.

Interior & Features
Inside, the new Jeep SUV could be equipped with a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Other features could be a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, a 360-degree camera and much more. In addition, the automaker could introduce an ADAS system for added safety.

Powertrain
The powertrain could be one of the most exciting bits of this new SUV. The ARGOS platform is flexible enough to fit a variety of powertrains, including petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric. That’s not it; this platform also supports AWD configuration. This means Jeep could continue with the 2.0-litre diesel engine, paired with the six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic gearbox. This SUV could be offered with both FWD and AWD configurations. Jeep is also planning to bring in hybrid and electric powertrains in the near future, which could be offered with this SUV.

Rivals
Major rivals to this new Jeep SUV will be the Tata Sierra and Hyundai Creta. But the list can also include the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, Toyota HyRyder, among others.
Expected Launch & Pricing
The new SUV is expected to launch by 2027-2028, with pricing ranging from Rs. 13 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
