Design

The Hyundai Staria is unlike any other boxy MPV we usually encounter in India. This is a 5.23-meter-long MPV, making it longer than the Toyota Vellfire. The MPV prioritises practicality over aesthetics. The unique, practical, rounded, oval-like silhouette actually improves the aerodynamics of this MPV despite its massive size. At the front, Staria features an LED DRL running across the width. At the rear, the Staria features Ioniq-like taillights. Most of the side profile is occupied by the window glass. Rounding off the design are the aero-specific 18-inch alloy wheels.

Hyundai Staria - Interiors & Features

Staria’s cabin comes equipped with a floating 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a similarly sized driver’s display. Other features include a dual sunroof, ventilated and heated seats for the first and second rows, 64-colour ambient lighting, boss mode for the co-driver seat, and, most importantly, electrically sliding doors. To make driving easier for this vehicle’s size, Hyundai also offers a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS. Additionally, in international markets, Hyundai offers a choice among seven-seater, nine-seater, and 11-seater configurations.

Powertrain

Hyundai Staria - Powertrain

The international spec Staria features a variety of powertrains, including a 3.5-litre V6 NA petrol engine (268 bhp & 331 Nm), a 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid (239 bhp & 367 Nm), a 2.2-litre diesel engine (175 bhp & 430 Nm), and an electric powertrain. In India, we can expect the 2.2-litre diesel unit, paired with the 8-speed AT gearbox, which is also offered with the Kia Carnival. This diesel is also compatible with AWD. It would be interesting to see whether Hyundai offers this at launch.

Rivals

Once launched, the direct rival to the Hyundai Staria would be the Kia Carnival. If priced aggressively, the Staria could attract buyers of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Jeep Meridian, who are willing to pay extra for something more exclusive.

Expected Launch & Pricing

Hyundai Staria- Expected launch & pricing

Hyundai is working towards launching its global models in the Indian market. Considering this, we can expect the Staria in the Indian markets by early 2027. However, it is unlikely to be an affordable model; we can expect it to be priced around Rs. 70 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
