Design

Nissan 7-Seater Based On Tekton - Looks

The Patrol-inspired design seen on the Tekton is expected to remain largely unchanged on its bigger sibling. By default, expect the 7-seater to be longer than the Tekton to accommodate the third row of seats. Some elements, such as the large front grille, muscular bonnet, distinctive LED lighting signature, and chunky body cladding, are expected to remain the same as on the Tekton. As we have seen with the Duster and Tekton, this 7-seater SUV will share many components with the upcoming Renault Bigster.

With the addition of the third row, Nissan is also expected to introduce features such as third-row AC vents with controls and a charging option for rear passengers. The list of features also includes a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, and wireless charging, the same as those on the Tekton.

In addition, driver assistance and safety features such as six airbags (standard), a 360-degree parking camera, and an ADAS system are expected. Also, this 7-seater based on the Tekton is expected to achieve a 5-star safety rating with the platform and safety features it offers.

Powertrain

Mechanically, this 7-seater SUV is expected to remain pretty much identical to the Tekton, featuring a 1.0-litre turbo petrol (98 bhp & 166 Nm) and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol (161 bhp & 280 Nm) at launch, paired with a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Since the Tekton does not offer the Duster’s hybrid powertrain option, it could be a major shortcoming for its 7-seater sibling as well.

Rivals

Renault appears to be extensively testing its Duster-based 7-seater SUV, which is likely to launch earlier than Nissan’s SUV. And this will also be the closest rival to Nissan’s 7-seater. Other rivals include the Kia Clavis and Maruti Suzuki XL6, which are slightly more affordable. Without the hybrid powertrain, it would be interesting to see how Nissan prices its 7-seater SUV. Which one would you pick?
