In 2022, Mahindra showcased two concept SUVs that looked straight out of a sci-fi movie. Back then, no one thought that the production vehicles would turn out to be very much identical to the concept. But Mahindra has officially brought the BE 6 and XEV 9e to life, which changes this perception. Last year, Mahindra showcased its future VISION lineup, featuring some unique concepts. Looks
The codename might be tricky, but looking at the design, the SXT is much more likely to be an evolution of the Mahindra Thar. That being said, the concept features a rugged design, with a taller stance than a regular Thar. Thanks to its new NU_IQ platform, the 5-link suspension is expected not only to improve ground clearance but also to enhance overall handling.
From the concept, we know this will be the SUV pick that blends the Thar’s retro looks with futuristic design elements. Enhancing the off-road character are the aggressive front grille, skid plate, squared-off wheel arches, square-shaped LED headlamps and vertically placed LED taillamps. At the rear, you can’t miss the not-very-long yet significantly sized loading bay, which could carry your adventure essentials.

Interiors & Features
To complement the futuristic exterior, Mahindra is also set to offer futuristic interiors with the Vision SXT. As this will be much like a lifestyle pickup, it is expected to feature a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, and more. For safety and added driver assistance, Mahindra is expected to offer a 360-degree camera and Level 2+ ADAS. As with other Mahindras, this SUV-pickup crossover is expected to be engineered for maximum safety.

Powertrain
The new NU_IQ architecture is flexible enough to fit in petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric powertrains. But initially, Mahindra is expected to launch the Vision SXT-based product with a traditional 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine (150.19 bhp & 320 Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel engine (130 bhp & 300 Nm). The 4×4 configuration is more likely to be limited to the 2.2-litre diesel unit. Mahindra is also expected to offer an EV powertrain later on, which could also be followed by a hybrid one.

Rivals
With the launch of this product, Mahindra will target a very niche market. It is expected to get advanced tech to ensure a comfortable experience inside. With its rugged design and potential off-road capabilities, this SUV will take on the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross.
Expected Launch & Pricing
Mahindra has already filed a patent for the Vision SXT. But there haven’t been any test mule sightings yet, suggesting we can expect the Vision SXT-based car to launch by mid- to late-2027. Once launched, the Vision SXT is expected to be priced between Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
