But even today, Mahindra is often known for its robust SUVs like the Thar and Scorpio. And to carry this even further, Mahindra’s future launches are also expected to retain the same essence. Vision T Styling

When Mahindra showcased the Mahindra Vision T last year, it almost looked like the evolved version of the Thar.e, which was displayed back in 2023. As the ‘T’ alongside the vision is much more likely to stand for the Thar. Meaning this new SUV is expected to draw heavily on the popularity of the SUV. Despite being built onto the advanced monocoque NU_IQ platform, the boxy silhouette, exposed hinges and body clips, and muscular wheel arches still remain identical. Adding to the boxy yet futuristic looks are the squared-off LED headlamps and taillamps. And with an expected length of 4.3 meters and a 5-door layout, this SUV could offer strong road presence and cabin space. What about the features?

Mahindra is expected to offer a premium cabin experience. To do so, this new SUV based on the Vision T concept is expected to feature a large portrait-style central touchscreen, a fully digital driver’s display, and a 3-spoke steering wheel with multiple controls. Additionally, we could also expect a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, and much more.

On the safety front, Mahindra is expected to engineer this new SUV to secure a 5-star safety rating. And to ensure additional safety and convenience, the Vision T-based SUV is likely to get a 360-degree camera and a Level 2+ ADAS system.
Vision T Powertrain

Expected to be based on the NU_IQ platform, the Vision T’s most interesting feature will be its powertrain options. This given platform supports petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains, as well as AWD. Based on the current offerings from the automaker, the Vision T could get a 1.5-litre diesel (115 bhp & 300 Nm), a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (110 bhp & 200 Nm), and another 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (129 bhp & 230 Nm). On the other hand, keeping in mind fuel-blending considerations and government regulations for ICE vehicles, Mahindra could also be planning to bring an all-electric and a hybrid version of this SUV. And not to forget that, being known for their 4x4s, it will be interesting to see if Mahindra offers a 4×4 or AWD powertrain option.

Vision T Rivals

Once launched, the Vision T concept-based SUV is expected to sit perfectly with the Mahindra 3XO and 7XO. Given its compact size and premium offerings. The major rival is expected to be the segment leader, Hyundai Creta, along with other rivals including Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Also, if Mahindra brought in the 4×4 option, it would also have to compete with the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
Expected Launch & Pricing
Mahindra will be working extensively on the NU_IQ platform, as indicated by multiple sightings of Vision S test mules. While the Vision T test mules have yet to be spotted, we could expect to see them in the coming months. That being the Vision T-based SUV could debut by mid-2027 or in the latter half of 2027. Pricing would be key for this SUV, as it would compete in one of the market’s most crowded segments. Mahindra Vision T is expected to be priced between Rs 13 lakh for the lower trims and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the fully equipped variants.
