Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor Hybrid – What To Expect?

The Toyota-Maruti partnership is proving very fruitful for both brands. While Maruti gets to sell the Hycross as the Invicto in the premium MPV segment, Toyota gets the Fornx as the Taisor as the entry-level gatekeeper for sub-4-meter compact SUVs. Earlier, we saw Maruti Suzuki testing the Fronx with hybrid badging. Which indicated that Maruti Suzuki is extensively working on its upcoming series-hybrid technology. And in the near future, along with the Fronx, we could also expect the Taisor Hybrid. Here is everything you need to know about the Taisor Hybrid-

Toyota Taisor Hybrid - Looks

While both compact crossovers might look identical, there are some visual differences. Taisor feature a distinct front fascia with a wider hexagonal honeycomb-pattern grille and sleeker DRLs. Other than this, the overall silhouette remains the same, including the connected taillamp at the rear. Toyota is likely to retain the same sporty crossover styling with the Taisor Hybris as well. Along with some additional hybrid-specific enhancements, such as hybrid badging and a different set of alloy wheels. What about the features?

Toyota Taisor Hybrid- Interiors & Features

Not just on the outside, Taisor Hybrid is expected to remain identical to the regular version. Offering a 9-inch infotainment with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, steering-mounted controls, rear AC vents, ventilated & powered seats, electric sunroof and a 360-degree camera. In addition to these, there could be the introduction of ADAS Level-2, which was also seen earlier on the Fronx Hybrid test mule. What else could be changed?

Powertrain-

Here we came to the most significant change to be made to the Taisor Hybrid. As with its other small cars, Toyota is expected to borrow heavily from the Marutis. The Taisor hybrid is expected to adopt the upcoming series-hybrid technology. Unlike a conventional strong hybrid, this setup is expected to use the Z-series 1.2-litre NA Petrol engine. This tried-and-tested Maruti engine has already claimed an efficiency of 25.75 kmpl, so we can expect a boost of around 4-5 kmpl with the hybrid. The other option, including the 1.0-litre turbo petrol (98.6bhp & 147.6Nm) and 1.2-litre with pure petrol (88.5bhp & 113Nm) and CNG (76.4bhp & 98.5Nm) versions, is also expected to coexist with the hybrid.

Expected Launch & Pricing-

Toyota Taisor Hybrid- Expected Launch & Pricing

Toyota has no official word or action on the launch of the Taisor Hybrid. But considering Maruti Suzuki’s progress with the Fronx Hybrid and the overall rise in hybrid popularity in the Indian market, Toyota could bring the Taisor Hybrid. As Maruti may bring in the Fronx hybrid later in 2026, we can expect the Taisor Hybrid to launch by early 2027. With the addition of the new technology, we can expect a price hike of about Rs 60,000 to Rs 70,000. That being said, the Taisor Hybrid could be offered with the higher variants priced between Rs 12.5 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
