With the next launch, Toyota may introduce a 7-seater electric MPV. This launch does not seem so far away; the electric MPV has already been spotted being tested. Suzuki YMC-Based Toyota MPV-
After the launch of the Ebella, which is the rebadged Maruti e-Vitara, this upcoming 7-seater electric MPV will be based on the Maruti Suzuki YMC. Just like the Ebella and e-Vitara, the Toyota 7-seater will share almost everything with the YMC. Except for the badging and dealership network. So, what all can we expect from this upcoming 7-seater MPV-

Looks-
We have already come across the YMC test mules. The spyshot reveals the upright and boxy design. The overall proportion of the YMC appears identical to that of the Kia Carens Clavis EV. This MPV is likely to be based on the same HEARTECT-e Platform featured in the e-Vitara. Alongside the platform, some design elements could also be shared with e-Vitara.
Interiors & Features-
On the inside, the MPV is expected to feature the tech-loaded interiors of the e-Vitara. Featuring a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Additionally, it could also feature ventilated seats, a power-adjustable driver seat, and much more. And to top the feature list, this new Toyota 7-seater coils share a larger sunroof with the YMC.
To help with manoeuvring this MPV, Toyota is expected to offer a 360-degree parking camera and Level-2 ADAS. On the safety front, as well, the new electric Toyota is expected to perform well, featuring the HEARTECT-e Platform. As the e-Vitara has already secured a 5-star safety rating at Bharat NCAP.
Powertrain-
The powertrain is also to be sourced from Maruti. This electric 7-seater is expected to feature two battery options: 49 kWh (142bhp & 193Nm) and 61 kWh (172bhp & 193Nm). With the offering of these battery packs, the MPV is expected to claim about 440 km and 543 km, respectively. Toyota is also expected to offer an AWD powertrain configuration with the MPV to further enhance the driving experience. This powertrain also supports fast charging options, which can charge the batteries from 10% to 80% in just under 50 minutes.
Rivals-
The direct rival to the upcoming Toyota 7-seater EV would be the sister car, the Maruti Suzuki YMC. Other rivals will be the Kia Clavis EV and the Safari EV, which will be introduced in the near future.
Expected Launch & Pricing-
Maruti has been actively testing the YMC, and Toyota’s 7-seater MPV would follow. As we expect the YMC to launch by early 2027, Toyota could bring in its 7-seater electric MPV by mid 2027. Considering the offerings, the market, and Toyota’s pricing strategy, the new MPV could be priced higher than the YMC. That being said, we can expect it to be priced between Rs 17.50 lakh and Rs 26 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the additional premium over the YMC, you could get the Toyota badging and possibly an extended warranty. So, would you choose this over the Maruti YMC?
