Looks-

We are talking about the SUV, based on the completely new NU_IQ platform, the Vision S concept. First showcased in 2025, the Vision S features the sub-4-meter SUV silhouette, similar to the Thar 3-door. The Vision S concept features a boxy, upright design, but unlike the Thar 3-door, it comes with four doors. Adding to the boxy character are the L-shaped front and rear lighting. The particular Vision S concept showcased by Mahindra also featured an exterior-mounted side ladder on the C-pillar and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, which further enhances the SUV’s off-road usability and aesthetics.

Interiors & Features-

Being in the competitive sub-4-meter SUV segment, the mini Scorpio is expected to pack in a load of features. From the spy shots, we can predict that Mahindra could offer a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch driver’s display. Additional expected features include ventilated and powered seats, wireless charging, and a panoramic sunroof. The test mule also reveals some features that many modern compact SUVs miss out on, including physical AC control buttons, a central armrest for the rear passenger, and a headrest for the centre passenger.
For driver assistance and safety, Mahindra is expected to offer a 360-degree camera and ADAS Level-2+. The NU_IQ platform is designed to achieve maximum safety for the SUV lineup. Following the latest trend of Mahindra SUVs securing a 5-star safety rating at Bharat NCAP, this upcoming SUV is also expected to follow the same.

Powertrain-

The key highlight of the Vision is the new platform, which is flexible enough to support petrol, diesel, hybrid and even electric powertrains. That being said, Vision S could initially be introduced with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (150.19bhp & 320Nm), a 1.5-litre diesel (117bhp & 300Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel (130bhp & 300Nm). Along with the 2.2-litre diesel engine, Mahindra is also expected to introduce the 4×4 configuration. Also, we can expect a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110 bhp & 200 Nm) and another 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (129 bhp and 230 Nm). After the launch of the ICE variants, Mahindra could also bring in the EV and Hybrid versions of the Vision S.

Rivals-
The Vision S would be introduced into one of the most competitive sub-4-meter SUV segments. The major rivals to the Tata Nexon are the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos, and Skoda Kodiaq. Other rivals that could disrupt Vision S sales include the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Over this, given the possible offering of the 4×4 powertrain, we could also consider the Maruti Jimny and the Thar 3-door as competitors.
Expected Launch & Pricing-

Mahindra has already mentioned that the SUVs based on the NU_IQ platform could be introduced by 2027. On the other hand, the pricing of the Vision S remains under wraps, as it could be offered with a variety of powertrains. But based on the competition, we could expect to be priced somewhere between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
