Mahindra Thar Facelift Spotted-

We can say that the Mahindra Thar 3-door was one of the first SUVs to start the SUV trend in the Indian market. The second generation of the Thar, launched in 2020, became the best-selling Thar of all time. And the major contributors to this success were the 4×4 capabilities combined with a set of modern features, which also made the Thar usable for day-to-day commutes. The test mule sighting suggests it might draw more features and elements from the other, more practical Mahindras. Here are the changes that we can expect in the upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift-

Looks-
From the test mule, we can expect major changes to the Thar’s exterior. The facelift changes are to be based on the bigger cousin of the Thar, the Roxx. Spyshots reveal the redesigned front fascia, featuring a six-slat grille, updated circular LED headlamps, and C-shaped daytime running lamps identical to those on the Roxx. From the side, the facelift is expected to remain identical to the current version itself. Changes are expected to the rear as well, with refreshed LED taillamps. What about the features?
Interiors & Features-

Not just on the outside, the upcoming Thar is also expected to carry interior elements from the Roxx. With the update, we can expect the introduction of a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB), ventilated front seats, and a 6-way powered driver seat. Also, for driver assistance and safety, the Thar 3-door could get Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera.

Earlier, the Thar 3-door received a 4-star safety rating at Global NCAP. However, with the additional safety features, the rating could go up with the upcoming facelift.

Powertrain-

Under the hood, the Thar is expected to retain the existing engine lineup. Featuring the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (150bhp & 320Nm) engine, the 2.2-litre diesel (130bhp & 300Nm) engine and the smaller 1.5-litre diesel (117bhp & 300Nm) unit for RWD variants. Along with these engine options, you can choose from gearbox options, including the 6-speed manual and AT. Also, there is no doubt that the automaker will offer the Thar in two configurations: 4×4 and RWD. What Else?
Rivals-
There is significant growth in the number of off-road enthusiasts, driven by hype around off-roaders online. That said, once launched, the other budget-friendly offroaders, including the Force Gurkha and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, will be the major rivals to the updated Thar 3-door. Not just this, the Thar Roxx, with better highway stability and a more spacious interior, could force the potential Thar 3-door buyer to spend extra and get the Roxx instead. Which one would you pick?
Expected Launch & Pricing-

The official launch date of the Thar Facelift is still under wraps, but with the multiple sightings, we can expect it by the end of 2026. Along with updates, we can also expect a price hike of about Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000 across the Thar 3-door lineup. That being said, the Thar Facelift could be priced somewhere between Rs 13 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). What do you think about these updates, Thar?
