The Land Rover Discovery has been a highly capable off roader, however it had grown old in design, interior styling and was too heavy to be efficient. 2017 Land Rover Discovery Design
The new aluminium platform of the Discovery meant it will not just be lighter but even have better performance and efficiency. This new SUV finally gets a monocoque chassis, which also helps to reduce its weight further. In terms of dimensions, there isn’t a major change in the size, however the new Discovery does feel a lot more stylish and aggressive. The sleek headlamps along with a Range Rover like front grille, and there are cuts on the front bumper. Clamshell hood continues, while the step up root too exists in the new design. Discovery has seen a drastic change in its design, not just to make it modern but even premium.
New LR platforms are lighter, and hence the new Discovery for the first-time gets an aluminium body and a monocoque. This has reduced its weight by 480 kilograms. 85% of the body is made of aluminium of which 43% is recycled. This says a lot about Discovery, which was a gas guzzled and now seems to be the next most efficient model on offer.

2017 Land Rover Discovery Interiors
Finally! All new interiors on the Discovery. The outgoing version did have a very functional styling, and so does the new one. But this feels premium and plush. If you have been in a Discovery Sport, then it won’t be a new place for you, and yes the steering wheel seems to be borrowed from the Range Rover. Land Rover has ensured the addition of multiple features that makes the Discovery at par with the other. A large touchscreen system comes with Apple CarPlay, reversing camera and maps.
Things don’t end there. The 2017 Land Rover Discovery comes with 5+2 seating arrangement for the first time. Terrain Response 2 has been introduced and InControl Pro as well. With a boot space of 1,137 litres when the third row is flipped down and 2,406 litres when even the second row is toppled down. There will be a long wheelbase version of the Discovery in the near future. This will be a more luxurious version.

2017 Land Rover Discovery Engine
A lighter body weight means the 2017 Land Rover Discovery can now accommodate four-cylinder engines. Hence, it gets a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel mill that churns 237bhp of maximum power and 500Nm of whooping torque. Then there is also a 3.0-litre V6 petrol and even a diesel. Petrol churns about 336bhp, while the diesel has an army of 255 horses. There is no hiding that the new Discovery shall get a 5.0-litre V8 on an SVR version that should be crafted by JLR’s SVO department. At the same time, a hybrid too is in the making. This will reduce the carbon emissions.
2017 Land Rover Discovery Technology
There are up to four 12V charging points and nine USB sockets too. The Auto Access Height helps to decrease the ride-height by up to 40 mm for passengers to enter or exit the vehicle. The infotainment system comes connected to 14 Meridian speakers that have a digital surround sound system. All-Terrain Progress Control helps the driver to crawl the SUV at a constant speed on different terrains.
The InControl Touch Pro this time has a 10-inch screen this time. This even gets 3G Wi-Fi connectivity that can hotspot up to 8 devices. This even gets 6 charging ports in the car and 4 iPad holders as well.
