Hyundai is also gearing up to introduce its Fronx rival in the coming months. With that being said, Maruti is also looking forward to giving the Fronx a mid-life update. Fronx Facelift Spotted-

Fronx has surpassed the 5 lakh-unit mark recently, and the sales figures just keep rising year on year. Considering this, Maruti has definitely been preparing to introduce a facelift for one of the country’s most favourite cars. Exteriors-

In the earlier sighting of the Fronx test mule, we saw a huge radar-like system mounted on the car’s roof. This radar is most likely a LiDAR sensor used to test the ADAS system. With the ADAS likely to be introduced to the Fronx lineup, we can expect changes to the grille to house the ADAS radar. In addition to this could be a revision of the bumpers and a new alloy wheel setup. And not to forget the ‘Hybrid’ logo on the tailgate. Well, this is not the biggest change we can expect in the facelift! Here is more to it-

Interiors & Features-

Inside the cabin, we can expect the slight changes to complement the Hybrid. The infotainment screen could get bigger, featuring a 10.24-inch display, additional features like ventilated seats, and more. The cherry on top might be the much-anticipated ADAS system for additional driver assistance. And not just this, here we have the biggest and major change in the Fronx-

Powertrain-

The Major change is expected under the hood of the Fronx. Yes, we are now talking about the Hybrid tech that the Fronx Facelift will feature. The Fronx facelift could feature a series-hybrid setup or an extender-type hybrid setup. This powertrain will include a 1.2-litre petrol engine (80.5 bhp and 112 Nm) acting as a generator, charging the battery pack. With this technology, the Fronx facelift could be one of the most fuel-efficient cars in this segment, returning about 30-35kmpl efficiency. Also, the current powertrain options are expected to be offered alongside the new hybrid tech. The older powertrain features the 1.0-litre turbo petrol (99bhp & 147.6Nm) and 1.2-litre NA engine with petrol (89bhp & 113Nm) or petrol+CNG (76.4bhp & 98.5Nm) option. These engines are paired with the 5-speed manual, 6-speed AT or a 5-speed AMT, respectively.

Fronx is also offered with popular CNG variants, and CNG technology could evolve. Fronx Facelift CNG might get an underbody CNG tank, saving a lot of boot space. In the near future, we can expect more options in the Fronx line featuring various fuel types, not just petrol and CNG, but also Flex fuel. Sustaining even higher ethanol content.

Safety-

Fronx hasn’t been tested under the BNCAP or even the GNCAP standards yet, but some countries have tested it. Fronx has received mixed safety ratings, ranging from 1-star to 5-star. But so far, what we have seen with the Maruti is that it has significantly improved its safety game. And the same is expected with the Fronx facelift.

Rivals-

The direct rivals to the upcoming Fronx Facelift will be the Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, Kia Sonet, and Mahindra 3XO. But when we come down to the sales, Maruti’s own cars are fighting against each other, including the Swift, Brezza and Baleno. Also, all of these Marutis have either already received their updates or will soon. With that said, the compact vehicle market is really gonna be interesting by the time Fornx facelift is launched!

Expected Launch Date & Pricing-

Well, there have now been multiple sightings of the Fronx with the Hybrid badging on Indian roads, but there is no official word on it yet. So, we could expect the Fronx facelift to be launched by late 2026 or early 2027. The current generation of the fronx is priced at Rs 8 lakh and Rs 14 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), but with the addition of new technologies like ADAS and a Hybrid Powertrain, there could be a considerable price hike. The Fronx facelift could be expected to be priced between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) once launched. Don’t worry, the automaker is still expected to continue offering the budget-friendly variants to retain the Fronx’s huge sales and popularity. What do you think about this new Fronx?
