Fiat X3U rendered

Last year, we were the first to mention that Fiat is looking at getting a new SUV code named as X3U. However, as per Auto-Segredos, Fiat might still be working on the X3U. The report further states that the X3U will be based on the Toro platform.

This is indicated to be the C-SUV from Fiat as well. Fiat India hasn’t stated anything, but our sources confirm that Fiat is working on a new range of products that includes a hatchback, sedan and SUV.

Fiat will continue to work on the new SCA platform itself.

This is the same platform from which the new Jeep SUV will be made, which will be manufactured in India. Now, the SCA platform has a regular version, which has the Punto based on it, then there is the LWB (long wheel base), which is for the Linea. The Toro is based on the wide and long wheelbase is for the Toro and then even for the X3U as well. The wide 4×4 version is used for the Renegade and then we should see the new Jeep Made-in-India SUV as well. Jeep’s big boss Mike Manley confirmed that the new SUV will be launched in the third quarter of 2016 in Brazil. This will be the same platform for the Fiat SUV too. We aren’t certain if it will get an all-wheel drive version. The Fiat X3U will be getting a 2.

0-litre JTD engine and it will come with a six-speed manual and nine-speed ZF transmission.

Fiat X3U Engine

Fiat has been testing the 2.0-litre diesel engine in India, however we aren’t certain if the Fiat SUV will also be making its way into India. The Ranjangaon plant might be manufacturing the 2.0-litre JTD and the Fiat X3U and this could likely be for export reasons only. From what we understand, Fiat could be considering to introduce a smaller SUV. Even the report states so.

Fiat X3U Launch Date

It is a bit too early to state a timeline, but Fiat will be getting its new range of products to India by 2018 from what we know of.
