The new Hyundai Elantra 2016 is here to make a bold statement and compete with the Corolla Altis. Hyundai got the new-generation sedan to make it competitive enough in its segment. This will be company’s latest new sedan that will be coming with new design, features and other aspects? What does the new Hyundai Elantra have on offer? We share our detailed review. We were invited by the company to Chennai to experience the new Hyundai Elantra.

The new Elantra will be offered with five variants, each for petrol and diesel. Both coming with six-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

New Hyundai Elantra 2016 India Colours 

The Elantra comes in 5 colour options are likely to be Polar White, Phantom Black, Marina Blue, Sleek Silver and Red Passion. These are the only colour options on the Hyundai Elantra at the moment.

New Hyundai Elantra 2016 India Design

Where the Elantra has seen a major change is its design. The new Elantra looks stylish and appealing. It now looks a lot more mature and upmarket. The Fluidic Design 2.0 is what makes it look more premium. The dimensions of the Elantra haven’t changed much.

The new front grille is larger and looks premium.

The side profile will remind you of the Elantra. Now it looks more sporty. The sloping roof melds well with the boot design. A nicely integrated spoiler forms the rear of the new Elantra. This seems to be more like a European sedan than a Hyundai design. The tail lamps are also stylish and trendy. It does look and feel like a premium sedan.

New Hyundai Elantra 2016 India Interior

The interiors also have the fluidic theme. The dashboard has soft touch materials and the dual-tone trim adds to the premium feel. Quality of materials is good and the interiors are better than many cars in the segment. Attention to detail is good, and the theme caries on undisturbed.

Hyundai has ensured that the seats are comfortable and there is sufficient space in both the rows. The seats are large making it comfortable for long trips. The rear seats for the first time are hard and have comfortable seating position. This makes it a good option to consider.

New Hyundai Elantra 2016 India Features

The equipment list is large too. It has keyless entry and start/stop button, a dual zone climate control system, a cooled glovebox, electrically adjustable, heated and foldable ORVMs, Bluetooth audio with navigation, audio controls on the steering and also on the rear armrest for rear passengers. The Elantra will be equipped with Apple Car Play on an eight-inch touchscreen system. The Hyundai Elantra 2016 also comes loaded with six airbags and also has ABS with EBD, ESP, speed-sensing door lock, central locking and an engine immobilizer as well.

New Hyundai Elantra India Engine 

Hyundai will be offering a 2.0-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel. Both these engines will come with six-speed manual and automatic transmission options. The petrol will be the more powerful option, while the diesel will be more of a fuel-efficient engine for cruising. Where these engines will excel shall be better refinement and power delivery. There are two driving modes as well, Eco and Sport (only for the automatic though). The petrol engine has linear progression of torque and is a butter smooth engine. The NVH levels are very low on both the engines.

Hyundai has even worked on the suspension set-up of the new sedan. This has been tuned for good ride and even much better handling characteristics than the previous generation.
