Tesla India plans are soon to be announced. Tesla’s big boss Elon Musk had announced that he will love to have a gigafactory in India. Several of the top ministers have had a meeting with Elon Musk and it seems that Tesla is considering to set up a plant in India.

Tesla India thoughts had initiated after the company started to work on the Model 3, this is a highly affordable model that will be launched in several developing markets. Elon Musk is looking at electrifying and providing mobility to the masses. This will help to reduce the use of fossil fuels.

Now, Tesla is considering to have a large plant in India. So, they won’t be making just a single model.

To begin with, the company shall be looking at getting atleast two to three models. Tesla will commence the production mostly with the Model 3. This is the company’s currently most affordable car. Tesla India will commence with the Model 3 as confirmed by Elon Musk. He mentioned in a tweet that Tesla will have its presence in India, Brazil, South Africa, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore and Slovakia.

Tesla India Talks

Nitin Gadkari had visited Tesla’s San Francisco plant to meet Elon Musk. He confirmed that India will give them complete backing. He has even mentioned how price sensitive the Indian market is and that this will be helpful for the company. The initial plan was to import it to India. So, the vehicle will attract a 100 percent duty. But things won’t be this way as per Tesla’s Chief Information Offiver, Jay Vijayan. He has stated that Tesla is considering to build a plant in India. Tesla India will be the company’s first plant outside the USA. This will be helpful for the company to reduce the costing and make it more affordable.

If Tesla sets up a plant in India, it will see a reduction in labour, production costs and other OEM requirements. This will be useful for the company to make it an attract buy in other parts of the world. This will improve the competitive nature and make it an appealing buy. This will help them to reduce the pricing of the Model 3, which is at the moment retailing at $35,000.

Tesla India Exports

India is likely to be the base to export Tesla cars to markets outside of North America as this will be more cost affective. The Tesla brand has been doing well and the company is looking to make itself a global brand.
