Aprilia Tuono 1400 front

The Aprilia is an Italian bred true blue sports bike. with top notch styling, it comes in an attractive colour combination of red, black and silver. The frame is the same one seen on the RSV4 RF, however some changes have been made to accommodate the new engine. The Tuono is not a fully faired bike but has a neat bikini fairing that gels with the rest of the bike. The triple headlamp cluster makes it stand out from other sports bikes and has a neat smallish windshield atop. It gets a straight handlebar, no clip-ons here.

The instrument panel has an analogue tachometer. The other info is in a digital format. The rest of the bike has chiseled looks. The seat area is compact with a sharply raked up tail. The dimensions of the Tuono are not large and this is a compact bike, sized similar to say a KTM RC 390. It’s bod is not as big as its heart. The exhaust is beautifully finished.

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Performance

The Tuono V4 1100 Factory gets an all-new 65-degree V-4 1100cc, liquid-cooled engine that belts out a devastating power of 173 bhp @11000rpm and a torque of 120Nm @ 9000rpm. This is an experience I can never forget. The bike starts with a deep rumble and blipping the throttle makes it roar like a hungry tiger. The roar can almost scare the wits out of people and heads start rolling to have a look at this unassuming beast.

Unlike the smooth and refined humm of the in-line four cylinder bikes, the Tuono’s V4 sounds brash. On the move, this one is pure bliss. The teriffic power delivery is mesmerizing. Clearly the best out there. The Tuono comes loaded with electronics like different riding modes. Even after the terrific surge of power, there is always a lot of reserve power in any gear and the bike just shoots off beyond 4000rpm. reaching higher triple digit speeds is a breeze and the Tuono reaches there faster than one can imagine. The bike though is very smooth and devoid of any vibrations, which says a lot about the engineers at Aprilia. Not only is the Aprilia Tuono a crazy performer, it also behaves in a subtle form in city riding conditions and can be easily ridden in higher gears and low speeds.

The clutch and gearshifts are butter smooth as the Tuono gets a slipper clutch and a quick shifter too. Even by keeping the throttle level constant, you can easily upshift. The clutch mechanism manages this perfectly.

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Ride and Handling

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory

The Tuono V4 1100 Factory has an upgraded chassis and suspension system which compliments the engine performance and allows the bike to be agile and easy to handle. It gets arguably the best suspension from Ohlins, in the form of inverted 43mm front forks, a gas-charged shock absorber, and also a steering damper. There is an interesting system called Active Electronic Setup which uses a GPS module that memorizes the track layout and then adjusts the engine response and suspension settings to offer best performance.

The Multimedia Platform also offers Adaptive Race Assistant for better settings and Advanced Telemetry Dashboard to keep the engine under control. On the move, the bike handles very well and feels pretty light too. In a straight line, its rock steady even at speeds beyond 150 km/h. The brakes are phenomenal and use Brembo 320mm discs. The ABS works brilliantly. The Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa radial tyres come as standard. The front has 120/70/17 and the rear has 200/55/17 tyres.
