The owner for today is Rahul Nair. The owner’s father took the decision of buying the car.  The father was planning to surprise the owner but he was greatly shocked by the choice of car.  The owner wanted a refined car and complete product. Find out more inside what is wrong with the Renault Triber.

 Issues

triber owner review interior

The car has plenty of space, but the owner is greatly disappointed with the driving dynamics of the car. The owner tells that it is not a proper seven-seater car, and the engine is also not tuned well. According to the owner, Renault Triber is a 5-seater with a large boot space.  The owner has around 7-8 cars around him and was driving the EcoSport prior to this.  For entry-level car buyers, this is not an issue. The Renault Triber is not ideal for anyone who has purchased a hatchback or above.  This does not serve an upgrade over Maruti Ignis, Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 in spite of larger space.

What did the owner like?

triber owner review exterior

The owner loves the space utilization in the car. The AC performance is also impressive. Roomy interiors with large window panes are the only benefits of this car. The overall ergonomics of the car is also good, as long as the car is stationary.  The Renault Triber here has clocked 5000kms in the previous 8 months.  The owner wanted to drive the car more, but due to manufacturing defects and other issues could not complete his wish. Judging by his voice, the owner is full desperate with this car.

Unsafe car

The main problem regarding the safety of the car is that the steering wheel automatically turns to the right side without any input from the driver side. This is a very dangerous hazard and can prove deadly in highways.  There is also a battery problem with the car, which leads to an automatic reset of the odometer reading.  There is also starting issue with the car.  These are the 3 major manufacturing difficulties faced by the owner, out of which two have been partially solved.

triber owner review seats What wrong Renault Triber

The sheet metal quality of the car is disappointing.  It is too thin for a car of its size. The owner clearly says that the Renault Triber is not a stable car and only a marketing myth present in India. Seven Seater price at cheap price does come with its disadvantages.  The car is hugely underpowered and can only achieve near 80km/hr with full load.  If you think, the smaller engine leads to better mileage think again.  City mileage of this car according to the owner’s experience is 10kmpl. The high fuel efficiency figure claimed by the company is also a myth. More about What is wrong with the Renault Triber below.

“You can never judge a book by its covers”, is rightly said. The Renault Triber has good looks and exteriors, but the overall product lacks practicality and refinement. Also looks of the car are the secondary importance. Safety, Performance and efficiency are buyer’s main concerns.  The owner considers this a show-piece only.

Conclusion

Renault Triber What wrong Renault Triber

The owner does not want to recommend this car to anyone.  According to the owner, good build quality of a car is of utmost importance and this car does not have it.  You can never compare the price of life with the car.  Buying a hatchback at a similar price or more is a more sensible option.  The fully-loaded car easily scraps speed breakers in India.  The “awesome ground clearance” promised by the company does not hold true for the fully-loaded car.  If the owner gets the chance to travel back in time and purchase a car, he will happily prefer the Maruti Swift. The cheapest 7-seater which you can buy is the Maruti Ertiga, which is an overall good product.

  • sorry I mentioned 1000 instead of 10000. Ten thousand kilometers in 5 months

  • I own this car from June 2023 and driven 1000 KM till now.
Even at 90-100 Kph i don’t find any problem. Its smooth only. Yes the pickup is slow , if fully loaded, but who need to go on 100 kph with full family. The speed and all is when u are going alone only. Space is good for sitting. For luggage we need to add carrier and its low budjet car for 7 people. If we are above 85% in the eco drive system they provided its safe and smooth only. I moved to this car after having Zen estillo for 16 years.
Overall its good car at low budjet

  • I feel that owner has not test driven the vehicle before purchasing it. If you are using MPV in City traffic than definitely there will be mileage drop. Car going on Right side issue is mentioned in companies official with solution of getting wheel aligned and balanced. It is recommended to check alignment and geometry angle of axle for every 5000 km not only for renault but for all small MPV and entry level cars. Also, every company mentions ground clearance in UNLADEN condition. If Car has softer suspension setup than Ground clearance will decrease surely. Regarding safety of car GNCAP test car at speed of 60kmph and provide them stars. At speed of above 60kmph no car is safe be it TATA or Mahindra.

  • Sue needs to learn driving.

  • I am the owner of triber since Dec 2019, it works really well as a family car with a budget fit for the middle class. I disagree with this owner. I traveled 35000km approx till. No issues were faced driving with 7 seats. It’s also a safe car as I was hit by swift a few months ago; the loss of swift is more as compared to my car. My rear dukki door & lock gets just damaged. Service cost less as compared to Maruti cars. If you are expecting a very huge performance for 999cc engine and cost of 7-8 lac budget then it is out of your mind. Best family car in this segment.

  • I purchased Renault Triber in Dec 2019 and travelled more than 12000 kms on same with an 880 km to and from trip to Bhubaneswar from Visakhapatnam. Colour is mustad orange. Iam completely satisfied with the car and its performance too. Travelled with 7 persons too and never had any glitch. Mileage is awesome for the segment and it gives 16.5 KMPL in Vizag city traffic with cautious use of AC. The biggest takeaway from this car is , it teaches you how to drive economically. It grades our driving and I can tell with conviction that if the score is more than 98% with five stars in all three skills of it none of the problems told here will come. It is a value for money car and needs proper usage in my opinion. The movement steering towards right as quoted, is due to excess stress on steering beyond the limit in that direction. This was faced by me too during a cellar parking. However, we can correct it by turning the steering gently beyond the limit in the other direction will correct it. The power steering is awesome smooth and I feel it is one of the best in the segment. If someone wants to buy it they can do it without any hesitation, however try to score above 95% in it’s grading to avail the performance of it. For me, this car is a pleasure to drive vehicle.

  • Pthetic starting issues, Service team in india are bigger problem then the vehicle itself, even for free servicing , they keep charging in name of miscellaneous. Provide pick and drop after lot many requests and that too charged heavily for that. Intentionally positioned their service center out of city area to earn on pickup/drop. Vehicles issues never get settled even after visiting more than 10times in a year for new car. Seat lock gets bas in 1st year, company keep changing various parts under recall, that proves they themselves are acknowledging various manufacturing defects. Cheap parts are being used. Never go with Renault in india. I will never buy any car of this brand again

  • Renault Triber is an excellent model which caters the needs of city driving with occasional long drives. I bought it in December 2019. It is rock solid from engine performance and mileage inside city driving is 15.5 KMPL. However, driving is always an art which shall be learnt with a passion and thrill for it. Always, the want is a proper GURU who can guide you in every moment of driving. What I like in Renault Triber is …it gives you a gift of SUCH GYANI PURUSH, a true GURU of DRIVING. The Eco drive feature in the driver console is a marvellous feature. It not only tells you the mileage but also teaches and grades your driving skills to achieve the learnings. I learned a lot after 15 years of car driving experience and now I can proudly say, I am a better driver. In the city traffic conditions of Visakhapatnam it gives me 15.5 KMPL as worst case with 40 % AC on time. However, I got this gift only after I scored above 95% in the ECO DRIVE and now 99% is always a reachable target. I use the car daily for a drive of 16 KM total, doesn’t race the car, doesn’t have the road rage character except for functional interest. I saw it with all seats full up to a 400 km drive for Bhubaneswar twice and nicely drove up to 110 KMPH for long spells (peak 140 KMPH only). What I like is mileage, super smooth power steering (I can bet none of the class competitors do have such a lighter one) versatility of space management, economical service charge, trouble free operation and last but not least 8.5 Lakhs for high end model. IF YOU ARE FROM MIDDLE CLASS GROUP, PURCHASE IT WITH EYES CLOSED AND IMPROVE YOUR DRIVING SKILLS.

  • I purchased my Renault Triber in June 2021 – New 2021 model. I took my vehicle back to the dealership as the rubbers on the door panels are coming loose, rusted bolts by the boot that had to be replaced. The internal matted lining near the passenger door is loose. I have my vehicle for 5 months and the air conditioning unit has to be refilled already. My exhaust pipe is rusting and according to the dealership it is surface rust!!!! I purchased a blue vehicle and the paint job is so poor, that after washing my vehicle, scratches are visible. I already have scratches at the door panels from when my kids jump in and out of the car. The car makes a rattling sound when I start it. The vehicle feels very unstable when driving on the freeway and the window glass is shaky when driving with the windows half open. This vehicle was made using cheap material as far as I’m concerned. If I had known what I was getting myself into, I would never have purchased this vehicle. I am a single mother and expected quality for the amount that I had to pay for the vehicle. Highly disappointed in the manufacturing of this vehicle and would not recommend it as it has too many flaws. And through all of this, the safety and the integrity of this vehicle is highly questionable and the other day I was contacted stating that an appointment has to be made with the dealership because my vehicle is affected and part of the (safety/quality) recall. I have had other vehicles that I sold after years because I wanted something better because of the size of my family, and this vehicle is absolutely PATHETIC. I just purchased a problem, SERIOUSLY.

  • If just a feel of the “metal sheet” is enough to pass a judgement on the safety of the car, why do people even bother to do elaborate crash tests?
Triber has received 4 stars in Global NCAP. That makes it amongst the safest cars available in the market.
Triber’s problem is it is underpowered. Otherwise it is a well designed VFM car. For many, 70 bhp is more than enough.

  • I bought a Renualt Triber in January 2021. New 2021 model. This car has presented issues from the moment I drove out of the car dealership. The car switched off many times while driving. the clutch was not set correctly and car alignment was out. The finishes of the car is so bad as the mat is stabled in and the dash sounds of thin plastic. The car has a rattling sound when starting and lags when we change to 2nd and 3rd gear. car has a bad sound when we reverse. The car is not that fuel efficient as promised. The car has been to the repairs 4 times in less than a year. feels like the gear lever wants to shift out of gear

  • Disappointed with this car. 2600 km average 12km/L.
CAR HAS ONLY GOOD LOOKS NO PERFORMANCE..

    Maruti works much better

  • Shifting is jerky and car shivers at low speed, like it can’t decide what gear to be in. And I hate the flat key thing. It has no way to connect to a key ring! It isn’t needed in hand to start the car, but it is to open/lock doors. I floats around loose in the bottom of my purse someplace and I can never find it. I guess it works for men with pockets, but not for women.

  • The Mileage of this car is pathetic, i have covered around 2900 km, still it gives 10 km/lr, but the show room representative says , the mileage will increase gradually, i don’t know when?

  • Mismatched expectations!! Everyone buying a Triber knows that it is not a full fledged 7 seater. It is not an Innova or an Ertiga. You get that two additional seats for occasional travel with 7 people. We have been using our Triber for last one year and quite happy with it. It is not a car that will go at 120km with 7 people. Not everyone wants it. You get what you pay for and Triber is a great value if you understand the product.
