The Jupiter series of scooters has been the bread and butter of the TVS Company. The 2019 TVS Jupiter will continue to do the same. The scooter is the bestselling vehicle made by TVS. While the Honda Activa is the undisputed sales king, the Jupiter has also made its mark. The Jupiter in all its variants has sold around 500,000 bikes in over the past 10 months. This is a very impressive number. In totality the scooter has sold more than 2,500,000 units since its production.

What we like the most about this scooter is that it comes highly feature loaded. The 2019 TVS Jupiter will be more feature loaded than the Activa 5G. In fact, the current scooter itself gets more features than the current Activa. With that said it will still be a model year product. Great stuff like disc brakes are available with the ZX and Classic variant of the Jupiter.

Another thing, the 100-110cc segments still bringing in the major chunk of sales for manufactures. But now the scooter markets sales war is now about to take place in the 125 cc segment. In 2018 we have seen multiple launches in the 125cc space.  TVS’ NTorq has been dispatched to fight the Honda Grazia and the Activa 125 both of which are new products on the market. Aprilia has launched the SR125 to square off with the TVS NTorq in the sportiness and looks performance battle.

The 125cc scooter segment will also see the Suzuki Burgman Street which will be India’s first maxi-scooter. The only question remains, who else enters this segment with this much force. Yamaha, Bajaj and Hero, when will they come with new scooters here.

2019 TVS Jupiter Variants

The 2019 TVS Jupiter will continue to get four variants – Base, ZX, ZX-Disc and the Jupiter Classic. Out of the four, the Jupiter Classic is the one to go for. Most of the features are standard in all the variants. The ZX-Disc gets all the features of the ZX and Base variants with the addition of disc brakes. The Jupiter Classic which is the one to go for in addition to the ZX-Disc’s features gets 4 more things. It gets chrome-plated mirrors, dual-tone seat with stitching, a cushioned backrest for the rear passenger and a classic art dial which is finished in a dual-tone job. The 2019 TVS Jupiter will continue to get all of these variants with the same features.

2019 TVS Jupiter Design

The 2019 TVS Jupiter will retain the looks it has and will not differ in style from its current model. The addition of LED headlamps and DRLs could be seen. That said, the Jupiter will continue to have Automatic-Headlamps-On (AHO), which the Activa too should have been provided with. Then there is the metal body itself which is a good spec to have when buyers are considering buying the scooter. The scooter boasts the largest front leg space in any scooter in the segment. The external fuel filler filling feature too makes the Jupiter very user-friendly. The Classic variant also gets windshield.

Overall the scooter looks more functional overlooking fancy. To a layman, the Honda Activa and the 2019 TVS Jupiter might also look very similar in design from the front and rear. But this is not a bad point as the rest of it is really good.

2019 TVS Jupiter Specifications

The 2019 TVS Jupiter will continue to use the 110cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, BS-4 compliant engine. This unit makes 8bhp and 8.5Nm of torque. The suspension on the 2019 TVS Jupiter is a telescopic setup. The ZX+Disc and Classic variants offer disc brakes as well. Disc brakes and telescopic suspension, wonder who does not offer that? Yes, the Honda Activa 5G, a scooter we hope everything comes as standard with, a scooter that has become the scooter standard does not get these two vital features. The 2019 TVS Jupiter will get 12-inch tubeless tyres and alloy wheels too.

One thing to note here, its main competitor, the Activa 5G and the Activa 125’s prices start from INR 54,000 and INR 59,000 (On-road Mumbai) respectively. And if you want something with 125cc from TVS’ stable it will cost you INR 69,000(on-road Mumbai). Yes, the price of the TVS Ntorq is that much. So here is the pricing. It really all depends on the choice here. The Honda has more options with the Activa 5G, the Activa 125cc with all it variants and the Grazia with its variants, in a tight price range. It’s as if you can have from nothing and everything in the Honda range in a small price bracket. With the 2019 TVS Jupiter, you also have a choice. You can go from the 110c base model to the fully loaded top end Jupiter Classic. But if you want more, look towards the TVS NTorq and get ready to shell an extra penny.
