The Volkswagen Polo is due to get its imminent update. But with Volkswagen’s recent announcement regarding the Vento and Rapid and how those models will come in by 2020, we know that the launch of the new Polo is far. The 2020 Polo will come next to next year.

Importantly, there are rumors of it not to be based on the MQB platform. These rumors are false. The car will be built on the highly localized MQB A0 IN platform. Localized does not mean cheap, it means better quality at lower costs. The platform will be made using the local vendors for part and to keep the cars cost low. Additionally, this platform is also expected to underpin the production version of the Polo based T-Cross SUV that will be unveiled next year.

The new Polo which debuted and went on sale this year in Europe will be the same car coming to India. The 2020 Volkswagen Polo will be the biggest and most advanced update to the car. The new Polo with its increased proportions goes up to rival its bigger brother, the Golf in size.

2020 Volkswagen Polo Features

The car has been equipped with latest features for both exterior and interiors of the car. For exteriors, it gets main features like converging headlamps, flatter roof, and revised bumpers. Interior facelift will include LED headlamps, Audi’s virtual cockpit display, automatic headlamps, DRLs and pedestrian detection. Both these features will make the 2020 Volkswagen Polo a better option among the hatchback buyers to consider. Wireless charging too could come with this car. The Polo has always had segment-first features.

The 2020 Volkswagen Polo will get the option of 17-inch or 18-inch alloys depending on the chosen model. These tyres could mean the 2020 Volkswagen would have bigger tyres than the Hyundai Creta. The current car offers up to 16-inch alloys. The overall length of the car is also going to increase too. But it shall stay as a sub-four meter car. There will be better space in the rear too. The current Polo has terrible rear seat space.

With the localized MQB platform in place the price will be in check. The 2020 Volkswagen Polo will be priced from around 6 to 11 lakhs. Volkswagen has always put its cars on a higher price point than it’s rivals and it will keep on with this trend.
