TVS XL 100 i-Touch launched for INR 36,190

TVS Motor Company has launched the new TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start. The XL 100 Heavy Duty has been TVS’ entry level offering and is the manufactures best selling product with more than 75,000 units shifted monthly. But with years of duty as an efficient work-horse, the XL 100 needed some new features and updates. The moped has never had any competitor with only the Honda Cliq coming in close at its price point.

Design & Features

The TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start replaces the XL 100 Heavy Duty as the top variant. The TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start gets self-start powered by a 3Ah battery. The XL 100 i-Touch gets features like LED daytime running lights and a USB phone charger. The XL 100 i-Touch Start gets a split seat, which can be detached to carry extra luggage on the moped. This is the second major revision for the XL100 in the past year with the model upgraded to a BS-IV compliant engine and LED daytime running lights to meet the new norms.

In terms of mechanical parts, there are telescopic forks up-front and dual hydraulic shock absorbers in the rear. The moped comes with dual disc brakes and comes from 80 mm front and 110 mm rear drum brakes. There is no option of disc brakes available on the XL 100 i-Touch.

Colors

The XL 100 i-Touch Start comes with a new paint option, ‘Mineral Purple’. The moped is also available in existing colors like Red, Green, Grey, Blue, and Black.

Power

Powering the TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start is a 99 cc, single-cylinder engine that is capable of pumping out 4.3bhp of maximum power and 6Nm of peak torque, mated to a single-speed gearbox. While the power figures are mediocre, the engine does its job well without any issues. The moped gets a top speed of 60kph, along with a claimed fuel efficiency of 67 km/l. The weight of this moped is around 86kg. The XL 100 i-Touch also gets a new electric starter motor.

Price

The TVS XL100 Heavy Duty i-Touch Start has been launched at a price of INR 36,109 (ex-showroom Delhi). The moped is INR 2,450 more than the Heavy Duty variant and INR 3,350 over the base XL 100 Comfort variant. The love for this moped’s no-nonsense appeal, total reliability has always been a hit with its audiences. The XL 100 serves a target audience of semi-urban, tier 2 cities and rural markets. The XL 100 i-Touch Start is available alongside the TVS XL Super and the TVS XL Super Heavy Duty across TVS dealerships in India.
