Toyota Yaris Vs Maruti Ciaz Design

The Toyota Yaris is the latest kid on the block and internationally it has received a facelift. The headlamps are pulled back and are projectors. There is a large grille on the bumper for air intake. The side profile is subtle and it will comes with 15-inch wheels. There are LED tail lamps and the rear looks big and like a premium car.

The Maruti Ciaz hasn’t got any update lately but still it looks a premium car. It has recently got a new colour called Nexa Blue. The Ciaz is now sold from Maruti’s Nexa outlets. The Maruti Ciaz is also the longest car in this comparison and has the highest ground clearance of 170 mm. The Ciaz looks more premium in comparison to the Yaris. A facelift of the Ciaz is expected soon. The Yaris though feels better put together and has better build quality.

The Yaris gets black and beige colour interiors. The dashboard is simplistic and not too jazzy. The steering wheel is somewhat similar to the Corolla Altis. In terms of space, it is as good as the City. This is spacious like the Etios but a lot more comfortable. The seating is better, the fabric and the leather used will be higher quality and the ride will be pliant. Toyota Yaris has rear AC vents but on the roof and even rear arm rest too. The car is fairly feature loaded. The interiors do feel airy as well.

The Ciaz also has pleasant interiors. A neatly laid out dashboard and a nice touch screen system, which is easy to use. It gets the day night mirror, same as the Verna. The steering wheel gets rake adjustment and no reach. The seats could have been better. They are just ok. The armrest has very little storage space.There is oodles of space available and this gives the feel of a much expensive car. The head room is just sufficient. The seats are just about ok and have limited under thigh support. The headrests could have been adjustable. There are rear AC vents and a 12 volt charging socket below which you can also place your mobile phone. The Ciaz is a wide car and 3 adults can sit very comfortably.

The base variant of the Toyota Yaris is priced at Rs. 9 lakhs and the top variant is priced at 15 lakhs, on-road. On the other hand, the petrol version of the Ciaz starts at Rs. 8.5 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 12 lakhs. The Ciaz is also offers in diesel but we are comparing only the petrol version price, as the Yaris comes only in petrol.

Yaris is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This engine churns out 108bhp of power. There is no diesel engine offered on the Yaris and this has been deliberately done by Toyota. This segment is moving towards petrol and sales of diesel powered cars has come down. The Yaris gets a 7-step CVT automatic transmission form the base variant itself.

The Maruti Ciaz comes has both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol comes with a 1.4-litre, K-series engine. It develops 91bhp of power and 130Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox comes with the engine and it also has a 4-speed automatic. The diesel engine is a 1.3-litre unit. This engine has 90bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. This engine gets a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no automatic on the diesel.
