World’s most expensive SUV : Rolls-Royce Cullinan launched

The world’s most luxurious SUV is the new Rolls-Royce Cullinan. This new SUV has been launched at $325,000, making it the most expensive SUV in the world. Giles Taylor, Rolls-Royce’s director of design said, “At this point in the history of automotive design, SUVs have become homogenous and ubiquitous.” “The label SUV is now applied to anything with a two-box silhouette and the least suggestion of going off tarmac.

So, we envisioned an authentic, three-box, all-terrain, high-bodied car with a convention-challenging design and absolute capability that would satisfy the adventurous urges of our clients.”

The company has introduced its latest luxury SUV , that sets new benchmarks. This will also be a new chapter in the segment of SUVs, as this will surpass all the present players in terms of luxuriousness. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan will compete with the Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus. It represents the epitome of luxury in the SUV segment.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Price

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is priced at $325,000, internationally. It will be introduced in India as well and will come as a CBU. The price is expected to start around Rs.10 crores, on-road. This will also make it the most expensive SUV.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Design

The new SUV uses the same aluminium spaceframe platform, which is called the Architecture of Luxury. This is the same as the Phantom. The name Cullinan is derived from a diamond which is a 3106-carat jewel extracted from a South African mine in the year 1905. The boss of Rolls-Royce, Torsten Müller-Ötvös said that the Cullinan name is the most fitting name for our extraordinary new product. This new SUV has a heavy influence of the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

The front fascia is very similar and it also gets the D-shaped tail lamps. The boxy design of the Cullinan is also inspired from the Phantom. The spy pics also reveal that the rear gets suicide doors and open in the same fashion as the Phantom.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Interiors

The Cullinan will not have the most beautiful exteriors, however, the interiors will be ultra-luxurious. A premium leather upholstery and wood trim with metallic accents  will adorn the interiors. The Cullinan will also have a fully digital instrument cluster as well as an iDrive-like controller on the centre console. The SUV will also feature a Viewing Suite. On the push of a button, two leather-wrapped chairs and a cocktail table are automatically deployed from the lower section of the tailgate.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan Specifications

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is powered by a 6.8-litre V12 petrol engine. A diesel engine is currently ruled out by the company, due to lack of refinement as compared to a petrol powerplant. However, it may get a plug-in hybrid powertrain sometime later.

This engine has a power of 563 bhp and 900 Nm of torque.

The engine comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also sports a specially-developed all-wheel drive system. It also gets a Phantom-like air suspension. This suspension system makes millions of calculations every second and reacts to steering, acceleration, and the camera inputs. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan will focus more on comfort than performance.
