The new 2018 BMW X3 has been launched in India.

This is the third generation of the BMW X3 and it sells in the premium mid-size SUV segment, BMS calls the SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle). This  SAV now comes in a ‘Luxury Line’ variant for the first time. The X3 prices start from Rs. 49.99 lakhs and go upto Rs 56.70 lakhs (ex-showroom). The all-new BMW X3 is available in Expedition scheme and also in a new Luxury Line design scheme. Currently this is offered only with a diesel engine, which is locally produced. The petrol version will be launched later.

2018 BMW X3 Specifications

BMW X3 comes powered by a twin power turbo 1995cc, inline 4-cylinder engine that belts out a higher power output of 190bhp  and 400Nm of peak torque. The car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds. The engine is mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic. This includes Automatic Hold Function and paddleshifts on the steering wheel. The xDrive intelligent offers 4WD with variable torque distribution, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist.

There is also Cruise control with braking function and drive modes of EcoPro, Sport and Comfort.

The new BMW X3 now looks more mature. It gets adaptive LED headlights, daytime running lights, LED fog lights and rain sensor wipers with automatic headlamps. There is a new BMW Display key with LCD colour display and a touch control panel. the new BMW X3 also gets automatic parking function for passenger side exterior mirror and a panorama glass roof.

On the inside, it gets automatic climate Ccntrol, roller sunblind for rear windows, instrument panel in Sensatec and a 12.3-inch infotainment system. The infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay, Park Distance Control (PDC), rearview camera, and a Parking Assistant with a camera. It has Ambient Lighting with six dimmable light designs creates an atmosphere for every mood.

The luggage compartment has a capacity of 550 litres, which is extendable to 1600 litres. The rear seats have a 40:20:40 split iand also has a through-loading system. Interior details in Luxury Line such as leather upholstery in Vernasca, a Sensatec-covered instrument panel with contrast stitching and Fine-wood trim in poplar gain grey add to a lot of flair in this SUV.

In terms of safety, the 2018 BMW X3 gets ABS, airbags for all the passengers, Cornering Brake Control, Electronic vehicle stabilizer and side-impact protection. Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), electric parking brake with auto hold, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting and an integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.

2018 BMW X3 Competiton

The new X3 competes with the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Jaguar F-Pace and the Volvo XC60.

BMW Service Inclusive and BMW Service Inclusive Plus are optionally available with the all-new BMW X3. These service packages cover all routine service and maintenance work with a choice of plans from 3 years / 40,000 kilometres to 10 years / 2,00,000 kilometres.
