Volkswagen Polo Pace 1.0-litre Performance

Specifications Petrol
Engine 1.0-litre
Power 75bhp
Torque 95Nm
Transmission 5-speed Manual

The Polo pace comes only with the new Petrol engine. This is a 1.0-litre unit, which is a non-turbo unit. This new engine develops 75bhp of power and 95Nm of torque. The engine is quite fuel efficient and has decent performance which is good for city use. On our run, we noticed that it does not have the punch of the older 1.2-litre engine, however it is much smoother. There is barely any noise inside the cabin, unlike the earlier engine, which was a tad too noisy. Even when you fire up the car, there are no vibrations or that famous shudder that 3-cylinders engines generally have. The smoothness of the engine impressed us. Initial performance is slow but it is fine in the mid-range. Top-end performance is also average.

There is no change in the design of this car. The Polo Pace is looks exactly the same as before. The Polo Pace carries the same minor changes at the front and the back, that came with the Polo some time back. In the front it gets a new pair of double beam headlight for a better vision. This gets a blacked out bezel, which looks quite sporty and premium at the same time. The fog lamps are sleek at are now much improved than earlier. The Volkswagen Polo looks stylish and appealing in its design. The design of the alloy has changed a bit. The multispoke wheels though look very neat. The taillamps are also the same, there is absolutely no change there. The exteriors of this car get no other change and it is difficlut to differentiate it from the regular Polo. There is no variant badging on the car as well.

Volkswagen Polo Pace Interiors

The interiors of the Polo Pace also see no change, they are the same as before. There is a glossy finished steering wheel with controls on it. The interiors have a premium feel and they are functional too. The Volkswagen Polo Pace has all the features available in the regular Polo. There is no new addition here. There is touchscreen at the centre of the dashboard. This has Android Auto and Apple Car Play. It also gets navigation and Bluetooth. The chinky steering wheel has controls mounted on it.

Volkswagen Polo 1.0-litre – Should you buy it?

Well, the new 1.0-litre surely is an improvement over the earlier engine. Yes, it doesn’t not have that grunt, but is a smooth operator. The car now feels much more refined and premium too. The price could have been around 20,000 cheaper, but this engine is more fuel efficient and less noisy. The good part is that it retains all the virtues of the VW Polo, like an excellent build, great ride and handling and a premium feel. It is a good buy for sure.
