Honda has just unveiled the new-generation Amaze 2018 for India. But there is a report from ET that states more on this platform. As per a quote from the Japanese car maker to the newspaper, Honda is studying the SUV market in India. The company spokesperson stated that Honda will prefer being in the SUV segment than the affordable compacts. It seems that Honda has been moved with its recent success with the WR-V, which has been selling similar numbers to the City. Honda’s WR-V is in the company’s top two selling products at the moment.

Honda is studying the Vitara Brezza segment as it wants to get an SUV in this price point. This is however sometime in the future and not at the moment.

Right now, there is the WR-V. But the WR-V is based on the Jazz platform and Honda wants to get an SUV on the new Amaze 2018 platform. The current Amaze/Brio platform already has the BR-V on this platform. This hasn’t been a big success for the company so far. Honda is looking at adding more SUVs to its Indian portfolio.

Honda has been evaluating the HR-V for India, which will go up against the Hyundai Creta. This SUV will be coming to India in 2019 from what we understand. The HR-V is based on the JAzz platform too and it has all the bells and whistles one is looking for in an SUV. There are many buyers who have been waiting for the HR-V. Honda should also get two new SUVs to India. Talking of SUVs, the Honda CR-V 2018 will make its way too.

This will be a seven-seater and first time with a diesel engine too. Honda seems to have many plans for India, let’s see what all works in its favour.
