A brand new Jeep Compass delivered in Assam, faces a drive shaft failure from the looks of the images. This was delivered to a gentleman named Mr Jayanta Phukan who had procured his brand new Compass from Mahesh Motors in Guwahati, Assam. The drive shaft came out of the car within a span of three hours only as per his post. How did we come to know?

In Jayanta’s shared facebook post he has stated, “Yesterday I have taken the delivery of my Jeep compass car at Mahesh Motors Guwahati. On the way to Duliajan near Nagaon the car broke down the co-passenger side front wheel with drive shafts came out from the car and I somehow managed to stop the car. It’s a serious safety issue. Multinational company are selling such poor quality products in India which may cause fatal. I drove the car for just 3 hrs/172kms only. Looking forward for your suggestions what to do!!!!”

The images do the entire talking. This post has got a lot of comments on Jayanta’s facebook post and even going viral across most of the automotive groups and communities. We have already emailed Jeep India. The company has responded by stating, “The FCA customer service team attended to Mr. Phukan as soon as we were informed about the incident and we resolved the issue within 24 hours.  We are investigating this incident thoroughly and are not aware of any other instances. Nonetheless, we are immediately reviewing and reinforcing our quality assurance activities to further ensure the quality of our vehicles in the marketplace.”

Recently, we had also mentioned about the problems Jeep Compass buyers have been facing, especially with the clutch burning and sticking. The other issue has been the headlamp also. It was recently that a Jeep dealership had manhandled its customer also. Will this boost a buyers confidence? This will shy away many car buyers from getting a Jeep Compass.

  • It is really a shameful event for the brand like Jeep.

  • This is not a drive shaft failure. The Lower ARM both which attaches the knuckle has come out. generally happens if bolt is loose. this is plant manufacturing quality issue.
