We have been hearing of a lot of complaints from buyers on the Jeep Compass clutch and headlamps. In fact, we did heard once or twice by buyers that some Fiat/Jeep dealers mentioned about a circular being shared on clutch replacement. Hence, we contacted the brand and they assured us of no such thing, and there has been no problem with the clutch. We went out to check with a few buyers who have confirmed to us about the clutch issue and even headlamps aren’t up to the mark for the lower variants. FCA India’s response has been, “There is no issue with the clutch.” This was when we reached out to Jeep asking when one of our readers shared the details on the notice bit.

If you check facebook, it is filled with many complaints on the Jeep Compass clutch and even headlamps. There are some queries and most of them are customers who have been facing issues with their Compass clutch. The issue is simple: there are buyers who have been facing clutch burning smell, there are buyers whose clutch gets stuck when depressed. There are also buyers who have experienced this on some occasions. Jeep India has been getting clutch replaced without any extra cost and this says it all. When we spoke to a couple of people working in the dealership, they have confirmed these issues. What’s more, Jeep isn’t availing the headlamp bulb change for free, they are charging the customer for an upgrade. Jeep Compass Automatic Front three Quarter

A lot has been happening with a young brand like Jeep for Indian car market. Recalls for airbag, problems with clutch and even headlamps. A recent case of Delhi dealership was a bad example of customer service too. We love the Jeep Compass, just like we loved the Punto, Linea and the Palio but it is our job to be honest about what is good and bad on a vehicle. The company has shared a new brochure on how to drive, with major emphasis on how to use your clutch. We had even raised an issue with the brand on one of their dealers selling mandatory accessories in its price list, which has also not got a revert. Doesn’t matter if the mandatory accessories aren’t too expensive, no dealer can force you to buy insurance, accessories or car loan through them.

  • I purchased Jeep compass in 2020 Sports Plus Model. Same i got Clutch burning smell in B2B Bangalore traffic i didn’t taken any extended warranty it is almost 3 years now the dealer is telling both clutch and fly wheel has gone need to replace both costs 60 to 70 k. Am driving since last 16 years from Maruti to various brands last XUV 500 i never faced any issue in any car. I have drove only 21k till now in Compass concern is long run am worried what kind of problems may come. I just loosed confidence on this car today regretting why i didn’t gone for Creata or Seltos that time.

  • i have jeep compass 4×4 MT , and most of the time its in dealership only.
    every time it gives multiple new problems, and higher officials of JEEP INDIA explain it as part of wear and tear.
    simply dont understand why international brand like JEEP gives such faulty products. after buying new vehicle i am getting feel feel of pre-owned car, THANKS JEEP INDIA

  • I purchased the new Jeep Compas in January 2021 and I am also facing clutch burnout while driving at a slow speed, mainly during bumper-to-bumper traffic and the clutch doesn’t get depressed. I am very disappointed and contacted Jeep Service and they are not accepting this. I have been driving cars for 16 years, with many brands from Maruti to Skoda, but I have never faced any issues like this. My old Skoda was driven 93000 KMs, never had any issues with the clutch, this is the first time I am facing this issue with the clutch.

  • I purchased the new Car – Jeep from you. Upon driving the car, Initially the Clutch was got malfunctioned at a vehicle run of approx. 2000 kms . Now again at a KMs run of 12500, it again burnt.
    I am very disappointed and shocked from what happened and I find the situation very irritating. New cars simply don’t do that.
    While I do understand that manufacturing errors can happen, still I can’t comprehend the fact that the car was not tested before handover. Also, twice it happen. Really Not expected a Company like – JEEP.
    This is not the type of product I would have expected from a manufacturer of your size and reputation.

  • I bought my car in sept 2017 and twice I have replaced the clutch I have driving since 10 year and this is the only vechile on which I have faced this problem …I am so pissed off with this car ..now I m in this condition to sell off my car which I dreamt once ..please help me

    Every time I am blamed by staff for not driving properly and when I bought this car and very day my clutch plate got burned

  • 1. Recently the new compass longitude bought in Nov 2017 had burnt clutch plates (4th Feb 2018) which were replaced by the service center. This happened on a busy road in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. (Bad smoke from the car and that too I just drove the car 200-300 meters like i always do in my other car)

    Issue – the staff blamed me for not driving properly. This is not the case since I have been driving petrol and diesel vehicles for almost 20 years without any such issues. The Jeep Service center personnel told me that there were vehicles which had come for the similar problems. (But the blame was put on me which is opposite to what the staff/engineer told me)

    2. 9th Feb – the vehicle just didn’t start. The breaks are jammed and there is an indicator which says “engine failure”. The car is in a simply inoperable condition

    Keep in mind this is the second issue with Jeep Compass longitude in a week
