We were the first to state that the Maruti YBA will be called as the Vitara Brezza, the Ford compact sedan the Aspire and VW compact sedan as Ameo. This time its a Tata name we have heard of. Tata Motors has registered a trademark Atmos and it reads Land vehicles and thereof.

This is an indication that the Indian auto maker is hinting one of its next products will be named this. There are three options from what we understand. There is a new SUV – Land Rover collab one that is built on the Q5 platform. The second is the X451 – which is mad eon the AMP (advanced modular platform) or as they call it internally X5 platform. The third product is the new commercial vehicle.

Tata Q501 rear

There are rumours that the Tata Atmos will be the same for the Land Rover SUV.

But those are just speculations. We do not want to be a part of such kind of content. The company had even registered for Gravis, which had objections for usage. The Q501/Q502 is will be all new SUVs that will be based on the new Harrier platform. There will be two SUVs, one will be a five-seater against the Creta and the other is a full-blown one seven-seater. The smaller one will come with a 1.

5-litre diesel engine from what we understand and the bigger one should come with a 2.0-litre. Smaller SUV will be exported with a 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Tata Premium hatch

The premium hatchback shall be unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. This will be a premium hatch against the Baleno and the Elite i20. Tata will be entering a new segment with this. The sedan version is also in the making — as confirmed by our sources. But no word from the company. This new hatch will have a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. Exact specifications — too early to share. Atmos could be the name for any of the three vehicles. What are your thoughts?
