2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 petrol launched at Rs 7.79 lakhs

2018 Hyundai Verna will be offering a new 1.4-litre petrol engine as well. This will be the company’s new engine for the Verna and it will be an additional option. With a new 1.4-litre petrol, Hyundai shall be offering its buyers an opportunity to get a Verna like product at a more affordable price. At the moment, the Verna comes with a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options only. The 1.4-litre petrol will make it more affordable and buyers looking at compact sedan will also consider the 2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4.

There will be no change in the design or the dimensions of the vehicle. The 2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 petrol will be offering the same features in the same set of variants too. As there is a lower price tag and smaller engine, Hyundai could even compete with the Ciaz 1.4 petrol, which also produces similar power. Hyundai Verna isn’t offering the 1.4-litre on the diesel, but only petrol. The other important aspect is that the new Verna 1.4-litre will see a reduction in taxes too.

2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 Variants

There are only two variants available on the 1.4-litre petrol. The 2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 will have the base model E and the variant above that EX only. The The 1.6-litre petrol manual will no longer be made available in E and EX as this will be only for the Verna 1.4. The Verna 1.6 automatic will be still sold with the EX variant.

2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 Price in India

Just two variants will be made available. This will be the E and the EX. Both will come at a highly affordable sticker. This is the price for the higher variants of the Maruti DZire 2018 and Hyundai will want to have its share of pie there too. The current XCent is about Rs 50,000 cheaper than the DZire top model, which is somewhat similarly priced. Buyers won’t get as many features as this but they will get a vehicle from the higher segment. For those looking at brand value, they will pick the Verna.

2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 Specifications

The 1.4-litre petrol engine on the Verna will be similar to that on the Elite i20 Automatic 1.4. This will churn close to 98bhp of power and 132Nm of maximum torque. This engine will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This engine will be powering the front wheels. For those who are looking at good drivability without much of gear shifts and majorly driving in the city, this is a good option. It cannot match the other petrol engine in performance but it has more than sufficient grunt to overtake in the city and cruise comfortably on the highway.

2018 Hyundai Verna 1.4 Mileage

In terms of performance, this engine is good but mileage is its stronger point. For those driving in the city, the mileage should be about 11km/l, while on the highway this will translate into 17km/l. On the other hand, the ARAI claimed figure is 19.1km/l. Hyundai.
