Yamaha is working on electric two-wheelers. This has been reported by PTI recently. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer has been investing in electric motors and batteries.

The Japanese manufacturer might have recently introduced the Fazer 250. The company is already working on its future plans for India.

The company’s India MD Yasuo Ishihara stated, “We are at present conducting a feasibility study in this area (electric two wheelers). Yamaha has an edge in this segment as we already have such products in other countries.

Transferring such products to India, it is not so difficult.

I believe that the EV products cannot be the complete replacement to the current internal combustion engines. This is the one of the biggest study points.”

He stated that Yamaha is working to meeting the new target set by the Government of India. The brand is looking at making highly efficient engines for the Indian customers. Be it petrol or electric, the buyers for two-wheelers will not be spending high amounts. Yamaha has already started working on advanced electric vehicles. The Motoroid Concept is the latest example for this that was showcased at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The company has also showcased the MWC-4, a leaning multi-wheel vehicle with petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. Yamaha and other auto makers have already started working on electric powertrains for the Indian market and this will make it even exciting with the upcoming tech.
