The new Renault DeZir is likely to be the electric vehicle that the French automaker will showcase in February. This electric concept car was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo, but in a completely different avatar. Now it seems Renault is preparing to show the production version. Renault has plans to get a new MUV (7-seater) based on the Kwid’s CMF-A platform. The French brand will see the Auto Expo as a major event to connect with the Indian audience, who aren’t exposed too much to the brand as of one.

Renault has been growing at a steady pace and the company is looking at enhancing its India reach with a new set of vehicles. The brand has already launched the Captur, and now it is working on many new vehicles. Renault DeZir will be another talking point for the company for the Auto Expo. This will be the eye candy model for many car buyers and enthusiasts. It is a two-seater, two-door concept car. DeZir has a length of just 4.2 metres. There will be multiple other variants of the Captur and the Kwid that will be showcased at the Auto Expo.

This concept car is powered by an electric motor that is located on the mid-rear part. The supercar-like mounting ensures that the weight distribution is optimium. The electric motor produces  its power from a 24kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This vehicle has a range of about 160 kilometres and a top speed of 180km/hr. It can go from 0 to 100km/hr in about 5 seconds.

Renault DeZir India Launch Date

We don’t think Renault has plans to get any electric vehicle into the Indian car market. Even if does, it should be based on the Kwid platform. Nothing more than that. This vehicle on display will be of a talking point for the company for the Indian car market. Renault is a serious player for India and at the moment, it will utilise all its resources and energies towards building more vehicles on the CMF-A platform.

Renault DeZir Design

The French have been brilliant in making masterpieces. The design of the DeZir will catch your attention. The new-gen Renault vehicles look trendy and sporty and this is the flagship of the lot. The design has been made in such a manner that it has style, appeal and even good aerodynamic efficiency too. Design is highly efficient and it gets multiple elements that make it exciting. The design has taken inspiration from the Megane Trophu race car. It has a similar tubular steel frame on it. This is an electric sports car that has an underbody fairing along with a rear diffuser. These features help to reduce the co-efficient of drag to 0.25.

Axel Breun, Renault’s Director of Concept Car and Show Car Design states,

“Renault DeZir is a statement of our new formal design language which conveys notions such as movement, sensuality and emotion through ideal proportions, in much the same way as an object whose forms have been honed by nature. The result is a warm, stimulating design that says ‘Renault’.”

He further adds, “My early source of inspiration stemmed from the liquid sensation, wave-like movement and contrasts in light associated with certain rippled surfaces,” observes Yann Jarsalle, who was in charge of Renault DeZir’s exterior styling. “By directly laying out volumes and not just joining together a number of surfaces by lines, I felt more in tune with the world of sculpture than with that of architecture.”
