Datsun redi-Go Automatic or rediGo AMT is in the making. This hatchback has been sharing its platform and even its engine with the Renault Kwid. Even though both have different dimensions, this is more affordable than the Kwid. The Datsun brand is looking at adding more products into its portfolio and the rediGo AMT is one of them. There are reports that the rediGo Automatic will come in January, but our sources state that the launch will happen around the Auto Expo.

Nissan and Datsun will not be participating in this year’s Expo, but they will have this launch around it. At the moment, the redi-Go is made available with a 800cc and 1000cc petrol engine. These come with five-speed manual transmission only. The redi-Go is one of the highest selling vehicles for the company and this is picked majorly by private buyers. It is the Go and the Go+ that have been made available in the commercial market and has been doing well as Ola cabs too.

Datsun redi-Go AMT Price in India

The pricing of this new automated transmission will be about Rs 3.95 lakhs to 4.22 lakhs (ex-showroom). This will be about Rs 40,000 more than the regular manual transmission. Datsun will want to offer this quickly to boost the sales of its model. This will be the cheapest 1000cc AMT available in the market. Making it more affordable than the Renault Kwid and even the Maruti Alto K10. This is what you can expect from the rediGo Auto.

Datsun redi-Go Automatic (AMT) Specifications

Last year, the 1000cc version of the rediGo was launched. Datsun introduced the more powerful version to the rediGo portfolio this year. The company is now looking at adding more options with the automatic. This engine is a three-cylinder one that produces about 67bhp of power and is made available with five-speed transmission. Apart from the engine, there is nothing new in the rediGo. The performance has seen an improvement, there is more power and even better drivability in city. Owners looking to take the redi-Go on the highway, will be more than happy to do that. This makes it a lot easier for them drive with ease.

On the Datsun redi-Go Automatic variant, there will be a five-speed transmission. This transmission has tip-tronic too. In terms of performance, there will not be a major difference. The mileage of the manual transmission is about 13-16km/l in the city, for AMT it will reduce by 10%. So, we can expect it to be about 14km/l in the city.

Datsun redi-Go AMT Design

There will be no change in the design of the rediGo AMT. It shall have the same design language. The rediGo will be offering the daytime running LEDs, only one in this segment to offer that. There is a large honeycomb grille and the head lamp styling is the same – pulled back and sleek. The rediGo even has a lot more features on offer. The side profile is of a tall boy. The rediGo has a ground clearance of 185mm making it good enough driving on bad roads. The wheelbase is also short, which adds on to this. The glass area on the side profile is minimal and there is more of sheet metal. The door handles aren’t grab type.

The rediGo is a lot more compact than the Kwid, even though both are made on the same platform. The rediGo is shorter and taller. Both are made on the CMF-A platform. The rear design looks well balanced with the small tail lamps. There is no rear wiper or defogger, as it isn’t offered on any of the vehicles in this segment.

Datsun redi-Go Automatic Interiors

Datsun Redigo 1.0 interior

On the inside, the rediGo AMT has the same black dashboard. It gets a three-spoke steering wheel with no audio controls, the instrument cluster is derived from the Micra. It has speedometer and other gauges. The trip meter is digital. The music system is aftermarket and it has two speakers. For AC controls there are three knobs. AC vents are circular and are offered only for the front passengers.

The rear seats offer good enough space and there is sufficient head room and knee room for the back seat occupants. Three people can sit at the back, but it will be a bit of squeeze. There will not be sufficient shoulder room for three people. In terms of space, there is more than adequate boot space, though not as big as the Kwid is.

Datsun redi-GO AMT competition

The redi Go AMT will be competing with the Kwid AMT and the Alto K10 AMT. But the Kwid is a tad more expensive and the Alto K10 will be a direct rival. The Kwid is somewhat bigger in size and a little bit more expensive too, as it offers more features. This makes it an exciting package to consider for daily use as the vehicle isn’t very long and ideal for city usage.
