Royal Enfield has recently launched dual channel ABS on its 350cc Classic Signals motorcycle. This is good news for RE fans. The company had revealed that this dual channel ABS will also be available on the Royal Enfield Himalayan, apart from some other models too. Today the ABS version of the car has been launched. The prices start at ₹1.79 lakhs. The company has already started the production of the ABS version. The Himalayan will finally get ABS and that brings us a smile. The RE Himalayan has always been a good bike.

From April 2018, all bikes in excess of 125cc will need to have ABS as a mandate. That is when the bikes will be getting them. Royal Enfield had recently got the Himalayan fuel-injection to clear the BS-IV norms. The Himalayan ABS will see no change in its engine and performance.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS is fitted with a 410cc engine and it comes mated to a five-speed transmission. This is an all new engine developed by the company and also has the long stroke. The bike was also built on an all new platform.

The ABS version manufacturing has just begun. The price will be about Rs 20,000 more than the regular bike, which will now be replaced with the ABS variant. There will no cosmetic changes and no change in the livery either. It will be the same bike but will get ABS badging.

Apart from the addition of ABS, no mechanical or cosmetic updates have been made on the motorcycle.

Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS Specifications

The Himalayan comes with a 410cc engine that churns about 24.5bhp of power and close to 32Nm of maximum torque. This engine comes mated to five-speed transmission. There isn’t much of a difference in the performance after the introduction of fuel injection. The bike rides on 21-inch tyres and it now has disc brakes on both the wheels. There is also the long-travel suspension at the front and mono shock at the rear. The long travel makes it easier to off road.

There shall be on change in the mileage of the bike.

There will be dual channel ABS offered for the first time. While it still needs to be seen whether it will be a switchable one. The Himalayan being an adventure bike, will be greatly benefited if there is a switchable ABS offered. During off-roading,many a time it will helps if ABS can be switched off. We hope RE does offer it.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan ABS comes with a 220 mm ground clearance and long travel front and rear suspension. The fuel tank is large and there is provision to tie luggage and there is also a set of panniers available in accessories. This bike is a preferred long distance tourer and one which can easily tackle most road conditions and can be ridden off-road with ease.
