Bajaj and Triumph Motorcycles signed up a partnership that stated that two companies will get into manufacturing agreement. This is somewhat similar to what TVS is doing with BMW. Triumph and Bajaj have signed up for an agreement to manufacture bikes with engine capacity of 200cc to 500cc. These will be smallest bikes on offer from Bajaj and at the same time, it will be more technological learning for Bajaj.

Bajaj and Triumph are likely to come up with a new platform and engine. However, the bikes will have Triumph badge only. Paul Stroud, Triumph Director of sales and marketing, while speaking to PTI at EICMA 2017 in Milan stated, “We are expecting to be launching first products in markets like in early 2021.” At the moment, both the companies are working on finer details of the agreement. The new smaller bikes for Triumph will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant.

The Triumph brand is working on the newer range of mid-size bikes. The two companies had announced their partnership in August. Triumph CEO, Nick Bloor had confirmed the new range of mid-capacity motorcycles are already under development. There are many new motorcycles in the pipeline. We can expect a lot of combinations like naked, faired, adventure something similar to what BMW has been doing with TVS. This will help Triumph expand its range and boost its sales numbers.

The benefit that Harley Davidson and Royal Enfield have of local manufacturing, even Triumph will be a part of this club. Even though there is some more time. This will see a drop in the initial cost of the bike. The developing markets have a good demand for smaller bikes and Triumph will not want to miss out on this. Bajaj will be manufacturing its own bikes, KTM, Husqarna and even Triumph from its Chakan plant. This will add revenue to the company and enhance its profits.
