The new-generation Honda CR-V is coming soon. This will be a bigger SUV and this time around it have higher localised content. The new-gen SUV this will be bigger, feature-loaded and will be a seven-seater. The ASEAN markets will be getting this version along with the 2.4-litre petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox. Along with this will be a 1.6-litre diesel engine that shall sport a 9-speed ZF transmission.

India is one of the largest car markets for Honda. After the success for the WR-V, the company has seen a major increase in its sales. The new Honda WR-V has been contributing almost equal numbers at times like the Honda City. The CR-V was a runaway success for the company too. This was until the petrol prices started to soar and no diesel engine option dried up the sales number. The demand for a seven seater SUV is on the rise and there are many buyers who are willing to buy the 2018 Honda CR-V if offered with seven seats and diesel engine. Honda has been listening.

2018 Honda CR-V Launch Date

A tad early to say when, but Honda should be getting the CR-V into India soon this year, probably by next month. The facelift version of the fourth-generation will be given a skip. Honda will move on to the fifth-generation directly. As the new-gen will see an increase in localisation, the price will see a drop. This will enhance the demand for the CR-V.

Honda CR-V 2018 Price in India

Now, we aren’t sure on the exact pricing of the new CR-V. The current CR-V comes at Rs 32.

49 lakhs (ex-showroom) hence it will be priced somewhere in the similar range for the petrol engine. We expect the new CR-V to come for about Rs 30 lakhs for the petrol and in the range of Rs 34 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the diesel automatic. There will be no manual versions for the Indian car market. Honda hasn’t officially made any announcement on the pricing or the launch. This is our price prediction for this new SUV. Since it will compete in pricing directly with the Ford Endevour and Toyota Fortuner, the car will be a great option to consider if you want something smooth and a long distance family hauler.

2018 Honda CRV Engine and Specifications

A 2.4-litre petrol engine will continue to do its duty. This engine will have an output of 120bhp and it will come mated to a CVT. This fourth-generation CR-V has a five-speed automatic transmission for this engine.

The planetary gears and torque converter combination will be replaced by CVT. Though this will be an engine on offer, the diesel is likely to take up the bigger chunk. A 1.6-litre i-DTEC will power the diesel variant. This engine produces about 158bhp of power at 4,000rpm and close to 350Nm of maximum torque at 2,000rpm. This will make the CR-V a great option to consider. This looks like a small engine on paper at least. But then the Skoda Kodiaq also churns about 148bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. So, maybe there might not be much of an issue. This engine will come mated to a nine-speed ZF transmission. This will improve its performance and also enhance its range as well.

Honda CRV 2018 Design

The new-gen CR-V will not be launched in Europe. Europe will not get the diesel engine too. The design is radical and looks like an evolution from the current SUV. The front grille has good amount of chrome and the headlamps look sharp. There is an air dam on the front grille and even the front bumper. The lower part of the bumper is matte black and the round fog lamps are embodied there. There isn’t too much chrome on the fascia apart from the grille. The crowned hood has some strakes too. The side profile is where the resemblance to the current CR-V still exists. The 2018 Honda CRV has the same sharp glass area and chrome surround on the DLO. The rocker has matte black cladding and some chrome inserts too.

The new CRV should have 17-inch alloy wheels and maybe even diamond cut alloy wheels. The rear has got a major update.

The current CR-V had some styling cues like the Volvo, this it looks a lot different. The tail lamps now extend on to the boot of the car. Earlier the tail lamps of the car resembled that of an Volvo XC60.

New Honda CR-V 2018 Interiors

New Honda CRV 2018 interior

The Honda CRV 2018 marks the first time a CR-V gets 7 seats. This has three rows of seating and from what we understand of the philosophy of Man Maximum, Machine Minimum it will be a spacious and comfortable seven-seater. The interiors new too. The new steering wheel comes with multiple controls on it. The instrument cluster is digital with minimal analog bits, which makes it look very modern and premium. The centre console has AC vents, eight-inch touchscreen, climate control and the automatic transmission. There is free space for a lot of storage on the CR-V 2018. From the seats in the picture we can also see that the middle row seats fold flat. It will be interesting to se the third row seats folding setup.

  • up to 14 lakhs the thing will sell but beyond that it will affect Nos as most of the compact SUVs and MPVs are coming feature loaded …..

  • Its true that right price is most important factor for success in india. CRV should be priced slightly above hyundai tucson but can not compete with ford endeavor or fortuner.

  • overpriced is skoda kodiaq more value for money rgds dr panicker
