Suzuki Intruder 150 launched for ₹ 98,340

Suzuki Intruder 150 has been launched. This is an all new 154cc cruiser bike and the smallest one from Suzuki for India. The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer introduced this bike with all the safety features and most of the bells and whistles that aren’t offered in this segment. Hence, it sees an increase in its pricing. For those looking at cool features will be moving on to the Intruder, but the Avenger 220 also comes at a similar price. Lesser features but more power.

The Intruder 150 has the same engine like the Gixxer 150. This is a 154cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that churns about 14bhp of power and 14Nm of torque. This comes with a five-speed transmission, the same like the Gixxer. There are changes in the engine tuning. The 154cc engine is carburettor and there isn’t fuel-injection available on offer.

Intruder will go up against the Bajaj Avenger 150 in size, but in performance it could have an advantage as this will be fuel injection. There will be good number of features and as this will be highly localised, the pricing will be a lot more affordable. The Gixxer is also a highly localised product. This will be the second cruiser bike in this price point. Suzuki is looking at adding more bikes that are highly affordable.

Suzuki Intruder 150 Price in India

The Intruder 150 pricing starts at ₹ 98,340 (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and this is because it will be an expensive engine and more bells and whistles. The Intruder will come with fuel-injection, rear disc brakes and even ABS will be on offer. This will add on to the pricing of this bike. Hence, it will be more expensive than the regular Avenger, which is cheaper. It doesn’t get disc brakes and no ABS too.

Engine

The same 154cc single-cylinder engine will be carried forward on the Intruder 150. This is an air-cooled engine and it will see a tweak in its power. There will be about 14bhp of power and torque at 14Nm. The Intruder 150 will have good performance and better torque. As cruisers have better torque, the same will be implemented here. The engine has been butter smooth, the same character will be there here as well. The engine refinement will be top notch. In terms of engine performance, it will have good enough punch and there will be a good amount of kick too.

The Suzuki Intruder will come mated to a five-speed transmission. The same gearbox as on the Gixxer. In terms of ease of using, it will be good enough. There will be more than sufficient torque and performance, and this might be the new best-seller for this segment. The fuel-injection version might come in later.

Mileage

We expect the Suzuki motor to return close to 50km/l in a mix of highway and city driving. In the city, it will be close to 45km/l, while on the highway about 53km/l. There won’t be much of a difference from the Gixxer. The Intruder will have similar mileage to that of the 150cc bike. 

Top Speed

As this is the same Gixxer engine there will not be a big difference in the top speed. But as the torque will be increased, the top speed will go down. The Gixxer has a top speed of close to 120km/hr. The Intruder 150 will have a top speed of about 115km/hr. The initial acceleration of the bike will be better, but lesser top speed. 

Suspension

The bike will have telescopic forks up front and at the rear, there will be swing arm type.  Suzuki is looking at adding more bikes in 150cc. There are plans to get a 250cc Gixxer too.

Brakes

There will front disc brake and the rear will be disc. ABS will be offered as an option from what we understand.

Design

The 154cc version cruiser will be based on the Intruder. It will come with a lot of design elements from the bigger sibling. A round headlamp with projector LED light and tail lamps are also LEDs. The front is massive with a lot fairing around. The handle bars are cruiser-bike like. The instrument panel is digital and the bike even has twin exhaust. The seat will be large and comfortable for two people and it will even offer good width too.

There shall be black alloy wheels, ABS on offer and even stylish design. Suzuki is looking on taking the Avenger 150 and becoming the new best-seller in this segment. The Intruder 150 has good performance.
