Mercedes will finally bid goodbye to its G-Class. The G-Class or Gelandewagen which has been the longest serving Mercedes model is being laid to rest. To mark this end, the Mercedes-AMG G65 will come in its last edition, which will be called the Mercedes-AMG G65 ‘Final Edition’. This edition will be limited to 65 numbers only. The G-Class will cease production after this. The G-Wagen (Gelandewagen) was introduced in 1979 and has been in production ever since. Of course, there have been a lot of revisions and upgrades to the vehicle, but it had retained the tank-like built and some inherent strengths of the original vehicle. The Gelandewagen was later dubbed as the G-Class.

The Final Edition has been priced at Euro 3,10, 233, which is approximately INR 2.4 crores. Only 65 number will be built worldwide. The vehicle will not make it to India due to its limited numbers, however, buyers can have it imported to the country.

The Mercedes-AMG G65 ‘Final Edition’ will come with certain enhancements which will make it look different. It will sport a black and bronze theme all over. ,There will be bronze finish on the scuff plates, bumpers and the alloy wheels. The alloy wheels are 21-inch five-twin spoke ones which look extremely sporty.  The front grille and ORVMs also have a bronze finish. The running boards and the exhaust tip are finished in matte black. The black and bronze theme gives it an intimidating look and at the same time the vehicle looks special. A befitting theme for a farewell, we would say.

The interiors of the Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition has all-black interiors. The black nappa leather has brown stitching on it. This is present on the dashboard, steering wheel and also the exquisite seats. The carbon fibre trim also has bronze accents. There are a number of Final Edition badges all over the SUV. The interiors look and feel rich in typical Mercedes fashion and seem to be built to last for ages.

The G 5 Final Edition is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine. It has a power output of  621bhp and an earth-shattering torque of 1001Nm . The V12 engine is capable of launching this nearly 3-tonne tank from 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds, which is insane.  The top speed is electronically limited to 230 km/h. The Mercedes-AMG G65 Final Edition has a water wading capability of two feet. The approach and departure angles of 27 degrees and a tilt angle of 21 degrees helps the vehicle tackle most terrains with ease.

The G-Wagen had lately created a lot of buzz after it was introduce with the AMG tag, with powerful motors. High ground clearance and long suspension travel have been the hall mark of the G-Class. This helps in the unparalleled off-road characteristics of the Mercedes-AMG G65.
