Ford recently unveiled the new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT Dragon series of engines. This is a three-cylinder engine churning about 121bhp of power and 150Nm of maximum torque. The Ford Ecosport facelift will be getting this new engine. Apart from this, there shall be no mechanical changes in the Ecosport.

There have been rumours of the Ecosport getting EcoBlue engine, but these don’t seem to be true. As the invitation for the drive of the Ecosport facelift reads, “Rightly celebrated as THE car which started the compact SUV segment, the New Ford EcoSport builds-on the dynamic appeal of its predecessor and is all set to win you over with its rugged new look, sleek interior(s), and a raft of ingenious technologies. Under the hood of the New EcoSport, you will get to experience an all-new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine that is smaller, lighter, stronger and more efficient than the previous generation.

Hence, it is clear that the diesel engine will not be getting an update, but the petrol will. From what we understand, the new Ecosport might even skip out the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine this time as it didn’t get too high numbers or good enough volume. The 1.5-litre diesel will be the same, and it is still one of the most powerful offerings even today. So, Ford’s diesel engine is already powerful and we aren’t certain why will it need more performance.

There will be cosmetic changes on the outside and even the inside. There shall be multiple new features on offer. Ford is looking at enhancing its best-selling SUV. Many have written to us asking if the Ecosport will get DCT in diesel, sunroof or even 4WD. All the three things aren’t happening anytime soon. So, guys what are your thoughts on the new Ecosport, which will be launched in second week of November.
